A massive motorway pile-up in Germany involving 259 cars has left 60 people injured.


The series of accidents happened yesterday near the town of Braunschweig in Lower Saxony when several drivers lost control of their vehicles due to heavy rain and excessive speed.


Police said ten people suffered life-threatening injuries and 21 others were seriously injured as a result of the collisions on the on the A2 autobahn between Hanover and Peine in the north of the country.

Thats huge wreck,,,Ive driven on those aotobauns before,,,when things go wrong thy go wrong fast with results like this.

When I was stationed in Germany my family and another couple were headed to Holland. Everthing came to a stop north of Koln because of a pileup. It was stopped so long that we pulled out the picnic basket. Spread everthing out on the trunk and had lunch sitting in the fast lane. Jerry Lee

I was there as well, and probably close to you, USAF.

When the crap happens there, it happens big.

However, the German Autobahn is still one of the safest highway systems in the world. To top that, some of their paved surfaces have been there since the end of the second world war.

The autobahn as well as the surface streets there are all in immaculate shape compared to what we have here in Detroit.
I think some of our roads haven't been repaired since WWII.
