We arrived in Salt Lake City, UT on an empty move early on 6/01/06. We thought we were having some good luck to have a load pick up that afternoon, but unfortunally it dry ran as soon as we arrived at the shipper. So we went back to the Flying J and sat, and sat, and sat. All attempts of a back-haul had failed so we decided to head out first thing Mon 6/05/06---then the QC beeped offering a load to pick up early 6/06/06, we thought,"what good timing". But, can you believe that this load dry ran as well!! Boy, was my husband furious!! We had just fueled up at $3.15gal thinking we were heading to Canada. But, we grinned and bared it and started heading east. We got almost 400 miles away before the QC beeped again---can you believe we were offered the SAME load that just dry ran!! The only difference was that it picked up on the 7th and payed at a higher rate!!! No way was I going to turn back, my husband would of killed me if I did! So I had to refuse it, there went our first out! We continued heading east, after 900+ miles of dead-heading we finally got a load from NE to PA. Thank god they didn't offer a load heading west, my husband would of thrown the QC out the window!! }>

I feel for you guy's, been there done that! I (Mike) came from hauling truckload before my hetro life mate and I decided to do this. In truckload I never had a problem getting freight out of SLC, Reno, Boise etc but Expedited freight ia a diffrent animal all together and it was a difficult transition at best.I was fortunate in that Qualcomms are very durable, and my fleet owner was a saint! Be patient in learning freight zones for your carrier and always figure your deadhead out of a bad freight zone when considering a dispatch offer. I know this sounds a little lamen but they are the rules to live or die by. Congrats on the load from Nebraska sounds like the freight gods have smiled upon you. Mike and Cyn:)

Out West last summer, Fall.... Three Cancels in a row. The first one had me DH from LeBeck, CA to Vegas. Spent Saturday evening and all Day Sunday, in Vegas in the truck 110F. Sunday evening I go sit at the shipper, only to find out NO FREIGHT.

I will not mention the Carrier but they forgot to call my office to cancel. This is what I like about my company, he got me full pay from CA to Vegas, plus Sitting Fee from Friday to Monday, next one canceled and so did the following one. After being out six weeks, I seriously thinking of putting the truck in the shop, and getting the first plane back home to just to get away.

Best load I have ever had followed the mess.
