ABC Box Company

Is this company going broke?

My box leaks when it rains, so I figure I would get it repaired while at home in CA. According to ABC's website they have repair facilities all over the country. NOT, the one in Fontana, CA closed years ago, along with San Diego. It to me several phone calls to this Mickey Mouse outfit to learn that Oregon is the closest repair facility. They are supposed to handle the whole western region!!!

My box is less than 6 month's old and the phone number on it rings to an answering machine and no-one calls back.

Is there a box company out there that actually has a network of repair facilities or does everybody drive 1000 miles for warranty repairs.

If you need warranty work, it sounds like it's gonna be a problem.

If you just want to get repairs done, just about any trailer shop should be able to handle it.

ABC, American Body Company. I almost bought a truck with an ABC box. I was warned by a freight forwarder of how their ABC box leaked incessantly, and didn't buy that one. You might just chaeck a good trailer repair shop and see what they would quote you to fix it right. It may be chaeaper than driving to the ABC shop to have your warranty honored.

EASYTRADER,sorry for my all too blunt reply. But if you do get stuck for the repairs, and are in Ohio I can reccomend an excellent repair facility.

What a perfect day for this thread to show up. I picked up my new 22' ABC box today. So far, it's hauled my van from Columbus to Anna, Oh. with no problem. My fingers are crossed.

I know that Morgan has several repair/production facilities, but other than that, if you want the original company to fix it, you have to go there. That is why when mine needed major repairs, I went to the local shop that UPS/Overnite suggested. At home in Detoit, I use Hulet Body. So best is to find someone you like, and do it there. Almost every major city should have more that one place- usually any trailer shop does decent work...

We have an ABC box on our 2005 M2 and have never had any problems
with the Box. I will say they make the best DOT bumper I have EVER seen. Our Truck was hit by a drunk driver in the DOT bumper from the drivers side and that bumper never moved. The car that hit the truck was doing over 84 MPH when he hit the truck. I was like WOW when I seen the truck after the accident.

I have to agree on the DOT bumper. Very impressive looking.

However, I'm sitting in Youngstown at a shop that does warranty work for ABC. There's a leak in the front, left, upper corner. They say that it's structurally O.K., just needs to be re-caulked.

Problem #2 with the box. They extended the shaft coming out of the gearbox for the dollies by welding on an extension, which broke off in my hand while I was rolling up after loading. A handle with a longer reach would have certainly been much better.

The fun part was that this happened in N.J., Friday afternoon, in the snow and sleet storm.
