Dave, I've been to other countries. Yes, I think America is the best. But to become a cheerleader, like OVM and Dabluzman, just blows my mind. Both are in or near middle age, so they know what our country was like 30-40-50 years ago. If they can 'rah-rah-siscumba' this country, as is, then they are oblivious to how our country has taken a dive into the crapper since then. There are portions of our country that are third world, for christsake!

We are not the country we once were. We are worse off. Things cost higher, we make less money, the government spends like a drunken sailor in a *****house, and our liberties are disappearing. Not to mention that we are being driven towards a new world order, which will tear our Constitution to shreds.

Other than that, I'm peachy.

I enjoy living in the USA. Is it perfect, not by a long shot.
Is it worse today than 50 years ago? Maybe.

In the sixties:
I remember the civil rights riots.
I remember the Viet Nam War.
I remember Cuba.
I remember the War on Poverty.
I remember the dollar losing stability and inflation.

How about the 70s:
I remember the Viet Nam War ends.
I remember the US enters a recession.
I remember there was an energy shortage.
I remember the high unemployment.
I remember the Arab Oil Embargo.

How about the 80s:
I remember the recession.
I remember the farm failures.
I remember the high interest.
I remember the US economy rebounding.

How about the 90s:
I remember the dissolution of the USSR.
I remember the end of the Cold War.
I remember the start of the War against Terrorism.
I remember a strong economy and low inflation.

How did any of that stuff get past my rose colored glasses.

Now that I read and understood your reply to my thread,
I would like to get together with you, to help you
understand what I wrote.

How you come up with all this BS you are whining about
from my encouraging fellow Americans on their right to:

A) vote
B) disagree publicly
C) know that nothing lasts forever
D) I am proud to be an American
E) I believe we can and will overcome the
current problems.

Better check again, the "Cold War" never ended, we just gave up. The Soviet Union is taking steps to move back into areas that they retreated from in the '80's. That is why we have moved 2 Stryker brigades into Georgia and 1 into Romania. Russia is updating their nukes and has started on a rearming program.

Stryker brigades are also be moved into several areas in the Horn of Africa. There is also talk of INCREASING the number of combat troops in Korea, mainly in response to recent moves in China.

Marxists are on the move every where world wide. The administration has already started it's push to eliminate parts of the Bill of Rights. Obama is again pushing to turn over control of U.S. small arms, including those owned by private citizens, to the United Nations, which is direct contradiction of not only the Bill of Rights but of the the entire Constitution.

Let us not forget that soon the administration will again be starting it's push to first outlaw so called "assault weapons" and restrict magazine capacities but also outlaw ALL semi-auto rifles AND shotguns. AFTER that the next move is to outlaw all privately owned hand guns. All this is again in direct contradiction of the U.S. Constitution.

Something happens in every decade. Giving me a history lesson doesn't prove anything. What I do know is this... our country is in its downward spiral. You can't say that we're going to rebound when the government has made it so every man, woman, and child, are responsible for $53,367, and climbing. China owns us from this depression, while Britain still owns us from the last one. There is going to come a day when the rest of the world is going to say F-it, you're not THE MAN anymore, USofA. Like it or not, you alone do not get to decide what your taxes are used for and your choice to make yourself an *exception to the tax laws is against the laws that have been passed by your representatives.

Before you scream "they're not my representatives!" let me point out that they are. You and your fellow citizens voted them in.
Have you become so obsessed with Marxism that you forgot that we live in a Democratic Republic. That the majority of your friends and neighbors knowingly voted for a Health Care plan that covers all Americans and that the financial participation of all Americans is a part of making that plan work.
