As i said, "it sounds like a "Carrier" issue".... and not an "industry issue..when the carrier works to increase their "Client" base and not relay on load boards for the bulk of their operations, it makes a difference...

So again, it sounds a "Carrier" issue...

Ummm...same carrier as you, one 600 mile run all last week then sitting in Taylor before getting something else tonight. I'd consider that slow....

Well Mike since the post above was about sitting in Chicago for 10 days and a crap load of vans bein there and not being able to get out, I'll still say its a "carrier issue", since as OVM and I said "we are getting vans/sprinters out of there with no problem last week...

Now, no where in this thread did I say it wasn't slow...but I will say slow is subjective and different for each of us...I have been in and out of service since the 26th of Dec and right now I am just over 1200 miles...not great by any means, but I ain't complain'in cause I haven't been in service everyday and the pay has been just fine on the miles run...

So yea, it certainly isn't going gang busters, but it also ain't "goin to h6ll in a hand basket" either....

I am in service now, and on a run, I might go oos for a few days again after I drop, don't know yet...but from the 15th out, ill be in service pretty steady and then ill worry about it bein slow...

But again, the above post was strictly about 10 days in Chicago, and I'll still say "that is a carrier issue"....

Not trying to ruffle any feathers but I'm with Dennis on this one. I ran my tail off last week and both of my straight trucks were steady last week...1 of them had an excellent week! Will it be like this all of January???? Not sure but one can only hope !

This time of the year is slower without question. Most of the plants have come back up in service yesterday. A lot of times it is simply time and place. You read the post about 12 straights sitting in Monroe for example. We were had a glut of straights in Detroit over the last 3 days as well. We were preparing to pay to move them and disperse them out yesterday afternoon. 4 hours later, we were out of straights in Detroit before we moved any. Frustrating....yes it can be for everyone. Looking at the alliance load charts tell you can see the industry is down about 25% for Jan versus December.

I can't speak for the one carrier that didn't move someone for 10 days, but the rest of it is all normal. I wouldn't stress out or think the world was falling apart. Those of us who have been in this business long enough to know this is very normal for this time of the year.

Keeping trucks moving is easier when you have a contractor who will accept 3,400 pounds of freight into a vehicle that weighs over 7,500 pounds and somehow magically stays under 10,000 pounds total. :)

Hmmm I and another LOAD 1 Sprinter both dropped in Chicago within hours of each other on Weds..we were both loaded Thursday morning heading to the Indy area him with over 2000 lbs, me with 3400 lbs both load from the same shipper both going to the same location and both paying over $1.35 a mile all in.....Oh and the shpper is a Regular CLIENT of LOAD 1...no freight in Chicago??? Too many Trucks??..sitting too long??? Sounds like a "Carrier" issue to me....

I say maybe a slow start or maybe it is to much d/head this early just to keep working but 1 load like this can make up for yesterday without putting on many miles :D
