That's terrible. My condolences to those involved. I just bought a Kidde brand unit that is a combination of smoke and carbon monoxide alarm. The model is KN-COSM-B and it was under $40 including the first set of batteries. I have it here in my sleeper so if I leave the windows open overnight the guy parked next to me can't get me. Thank you for pointing out a very serious and real threat. Hopefully everyone will equip themselves to be protected.

I am so sorry to hear of this happening. It is not that expensive to get a carbon monoxide/smoke alarm detector for your truck. We also test ours often as every time we make toast ours goes off and a women's voice YELLS Fire Fire evacuate. She does get your attention.

Sorry to hear of your loss !!
I understand Warren area is a big Coal/Mineing area !!
Is that how it happened ?
I hear it can be bad there along with Radon problems too..
It shows that one should have one installed anyways..
When we purchased our house in Western NC , we were told to check for Radon, which we did and we needed a pump installed !!
Good luck and God Bless !!

My condolences to you, your co-driver and her family. when we bought a house in Ohio this year it had gas heat etc.....After last winter when we lost a wonderful lady at Panther named Theresa to the same problem....I rushed out first thing and bought 3 carbon monoxide/fire detectors at Lowes and Installed in LR, Upstairs in Hall and in foyer. Thank you for the reminder...and since it is Spring and we changed our clocks...EVERYONE CHECK/CHANGE YOUR BATTERIES IN CO2 AND FIRE DETECTORS.

Carbon Monoxide: You can’t smell it. You can’t taste it. You can’t see it. But you can do something about it.

Should you worry about carbon monoxide?
Accidental carbon monoxide poisoning from natural gas appliances is statistically rare. However, it is essential to perform regular maintenance on your home gas appliances to ensure your safety–including having your gas furnace checked at least once a year by a licensed heating contractor or SDG&E.

What causes carbon monoxide (co)?
CO is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas that is formed when natural gas, propane, wood or other fuels don’t burn completely. In the case of your home gas appliances, carbon monoxide can be created by improper installation, poor maintenance, or other appliance misuse or failure.

Effects of co poisoning
Carbon monoxide displaces the oxygen in the blood and can quietly poison you and your family. The early stages of carbon monoxide poisoning can produce flu-like symptoms, such as headaches, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath and mental confusion. Prolonged exposure to carbon monoxide can lead to death by asphyxiation.

Checking your appliances and having a detector is the best protection......

Sorry to hear about yours and Pams lost. Call me and let me know if you would like me to run with you a few weeks so Pam can take some time off. It would be like old times again when you was driving for me in my truck. Now I can help a mate out if you would like, let me know.
