A sad commentary

In my RSS feeds today one of the news items reported the search history of Yahoo searches for 2007. Looking at the top ten shows a sad ordering of interests. Other than number 8 there's nothing that involves even a modicum of real world connection. How sad is it when phony entertainers are all that's on people's minds.

The top queries of the year on Yahoo are:

1. Britney Spears
2. WWE
3. Paris Hilton
4. Naruto
5. Beyonce
6. Lindsay Lohan
7. Rune Scape
8. Fantasy Football
9. Fergie
10. Jessica Alba

It don't matter, people are too concern with getting more toys, who Britney laid last night, what happened to Julia Roberts when she chased the photographers and sports.

I think we need to look at what happened to the Romans when they were more concern with entertainment and sports.

If we had some demographics to go with that report maybe it wouldn't be so alarming? Most of those hits could be 15 year old girls with a lot of time on their hands.

Now, looking at that list as if it were a sandwich, one slice of bread was Britney Spears, the other was Jessica Alba, I'm a pretty BEEFY guy...

I'm afraid there's a lot of crap that IS Bush's fault... along with the Repubs who held control a few years ago. Unfortunately, we won't know the extent for years to come. Just as we still don't know all the ramifications from the Clinton presidency. I voted for the guy twice, but I shudder to think he'll make Nixon look like a choir boy. Bush catered to a LOT of shady organizations!

And for those who think Hillary would do any less, as far as screwing up the country, I'll start by calling you comrade now. Wilkow said it pretty well today. Ppl who swoon over liberalism just don't see past the rosey pamphlates to find out their true motives. On the flip side, Wilkow drinks a little too much Republican kool-aid, and forgets his conservative roots.

I think you first have to look at those stats in the context of where the demographics are. First and foremost, it is the young generation that is computer literate. Secondly, within that generation the youngest demo spends the most time online. Thirdly, because of those heavily weighted demos, it gives the appearance that there is a majority of the general populace in those stats. Far from the truth. In short it`s just kids being kids, and doing what kids do. They aren`t interested in what we find interesting. I wouldn`t worry about it, as someday they will grow up. It has been stated, and is a Madison Avenue truth, that the intellectual age of the USA is 12. That`s why they program what they program, and that`s why a Brittany Spears exists..as well as hip hop..etc.
In my day it was bubblegum.

It seems to me you are right about this, there is not a real way of pointing to a political ideals or someone in office to actually say this is the cause of this issue.

After louixo posted his opinion I remember that my uncle who was part of tis hippy movement has matured to the point that he and his fellow comrades have shed the childish ideals of sharing and love and all that cr*p to become of the system they were against while they were young adults. It is funny that this stuff does go full circle in life.
