A Really Great Cup Of Coffee

I love a good, no, a GREAT cup of coffee.

This love of java has caused me to seek out a product that allows me to make a great cup of coffee; a device that is also practical for use on the road.

All I need is a good brand of coffee (I like Trader Joe's), hot water (Thank you Flying J) and my Aeropress.

Every truckstop, gas station, etc that has a coffee machine has a little handle on that unit for "HOT WATER". I fill up my stainless steel themos with the hot water and find a convenient place to sit.

The video will give you an overview of how this neat little coffee press works. Personally, I don't add water after making an expresso (you will see in the video) to get a regular cup of coffee. I use one heaping scoop in the Aeropress and then fill the chamber to the top with water. It makes it at the strength I enjoy.

It won't break! It is easy to clean! No grounds in your cup!

They give you all the tools with the Aeropress.

This looks wonderful! So you can use any ground coffee, right? Peets coffee is my favorite but I could use most any ground coffee with this? It looks like it was made for the truck and I notice in the video they are using an electric hot water heater thing just like what we already have in the truck. Very cool! Thanks for sharing!

FJ Water is of course city water loaded with chlorine. I always use Spring water from Meijer or Wally World to make really good coffee.

Agreed!

Spring water (whatever that may or may not be) or distilled water makes the coffee.

I am limited to the amount of personal items I can carry in a cargo van so I use the available hot water. There is some science that supports the belief that heating drives off the chlorine.

Good coffee, good water and the Aeropress. You can't go wrong.

Yes, any brand of coffee works with the Aeropress.

If you grind it too fine (expresso grind setting) it may be difficult to push the plunger down.

If you grind it too course, the water/coffee mixture mat run through the filter quickly and not provide you with the brew strength you desire.

Drip grind setting, or slightly finer, seems to work well.

I bought mine at Amazon.com. Free shipping on orders of $25.00.

Watch your cart. Make sure that your order one from Amazon's warehouse to get the free shipping. Some products, one being the Aeropress, can also be ordered through suppliers via Amazon's website, but you do not get the free shipping.

OVM,

It's the fine from the DOT that concerns me.

One aspect of the dual rear wheel unit is that you do get pulled ocassionally, because a lot of folks cheat. Imagine that! They are at a 11,400 or 12,100 GVWR and they don't cross the scales.

When you get stopped, they only want to see the door tag showing the GVWR, but some will look at the cargo weight rating and may ask for your BOL. If the weight of the cargo listed on the BOL is close to the door sticker cargo weight rating they may ask you to scale.

I'd rather not chance forgetting I have some extra personal items on board that would push me over the legal limit. 1 pound over or 1,000 pounds over...it is still a violation.

ME TO, Spring Water has really made a big difference in the quality of my coffee plus now that I think of it. This is the first coffee pot I have ever had for this long that has no Calcium build up as I have only used Spring Water in it.

Flying J your coffee is terrible, Pilot sometimes it is hit or Miss, most other places it is a gamble. Mine is perfect everytime, Maxwell House Black please.

Ok, I know this is not about truck stop coffee
but if you make your own ..and you get
terrible heartburn after a few cups...try
Folgers Simply Smooth coffee. It is
very good and my heartburn is gone.

We make our own and carry our water for coffee and drinking ,main problem with pilot coffee is they dont clean the makers in many of the location(non coffee drinkers making the coffee) I believe that is why the huge differences between pilot locations. If we buy we coffee always taste before deciding to purchase . Find the freshest made if you have to buy.

we make coffee at home with a french press but i did n't want the mess on the road so i have stuck to pg tips black tea. very satisfying and the have those cool pryamid shaped tea bags. thermos of hot wates and my caribou mug and 1 teabag. hard part is driving, timing the brewing and then fishing out the teabag while in motion.
