A questions about driving and pain medication!

could have them amputated....and get a good set of prostetics...and go back driving...all that cash you save from no more pain could help pay for the new stems...

They never amputate. They'd make me get on a compression machine at night. Now wait a minute there, I only have one messed up leg. My left leg is completely fine. But in a way you're right, amputation would take care of the pain. Then I can get a wheelchair lift on the van and some fancy hand controls. The only problem is how do you secure freight with one leg? Maybe I can pull into the local Home-Depo and hire me an undocumented worker to strap the freight down for me.

Well what do you think about my other option which is to create a non-profit chairtable organization to help people with physical disabilities? Perhaps I can earn a living helping others. That is another thing that I've been considering as of late. Somethign where I can remain a productive member of society despite my physical limitations. If not I already have an opening with one of the larger expedite carriers. It's gonna be a long weekend of decision making. Also, I'm sorry guys if I seem to be complaining a lot, I don't have very many people to talk to about this stuff. I come on here and a few other boards to vent and seek advice from you guys. Thanks for your time.

I bet if you look around there are agencies "somewhere" that do just that....I was amazed by what is out there when I needed a helping hand ...just have to dig around and ask the right questions....

I need an agency to give me a free van, a new leg, a credit card, a full take of gas, and a rooftop mounted AC unit. Imma have to give Obamma a call today and see what he can do for me!

It pizzes me off to see really disabled people fighting to get SSDI and then you meet people that got on it basically because they're lazy.
I don't try to figure it out.

Well you have to lie. I can pay 850 dollars to have a doctor write whatever I want him to write on an RFC form. Why should it be like that? You have to go broke and find low rent shady doctors to help you win a claim. Why can't they just give you a simple evaluation and make an assessment. So who do you know on disability that just got it for being lazy? I mean some people have mental problems that prevent them from working despite the fact that they appear to be normal. Why are soldiers with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder given disability checks when they can still pick up boxes, or drive a truck? You can't really relate with a disabled person until you walk a mile in their shoes. Too bad I can't put the doctors psychi into my body and have him walk around as me for a week until he crys uncle. I guarantee you the doctor would be so depressed lol.

I have a relative that went into the service, I believe because he was too lazy to work.
He comes home a year later, bad back or something, and now plays stay at home Dad. If you can walk, talk, drive, and properly take care of a toddler by yourself, I don't believe you're disabled enough that my tax dollars should be supportin' your lazy azz.
I sold him a car once that he didn't pay for. Simply because he didn't care to. While living in my house !

I think you should take a lesson about "walking a mile in someone else's shoes"

I know there are some who "fake" problems with "PTSD". For many, it is all they can to do get out of bed in the morning. Couple that with the thousands that have "PTSD" AND traumatic brain injuries, from being close to an exploding "IED", well, you are, for the most part, WAY off base. Many, also have multiple pieces missing.

ONE example, "Paul" from Michigan. Most of his right calf missing. A hole the size of a softball in his back. Most of his right bicep missing. Four traumatic closed brain injuries. He ONLY gets a 60% VA disability. That equates to $1026 per month. Seems kind low for a man who is messed up so bad to me.

I know FAR too many who are in serious trouble, get little to live on and little care.

Not all injuries can be seen.

I am sorry you are having problems and I hope you can get them straight. Don't be so quick to minimize others problems.

does anyone know the rules with high bp meds the dr wants me on them but ive never started taking them

Take them it isn't something to screw with. I do daily. Hi bp can cause severe kidney damage, strokes and much more.

They call it a silent killer because you might not notice feeling bad but it can be damaging you at the same time. It contributed to my fathers death at 52 and a sister at 40. Don't screw with it.

Losing weight and even light exersize like walking can lower it substantially. It will continue to do damage if you don't take your pill. Read the edit on my first post.

This is something for people who are looking at getting into expediting from non-trucking jobs to think about. Almost everything that has been written about the pros and cons of the expediting opportunity is silent about the effect this business can have on one's health and fitness; and in most cases, the effect is negative.

What's true in most jobs is doubly true in expediting; that is, as you move on in years, a commitment is required if you want to be healthy and fit. It's not like when you are young and can get away with eating and doing almost anything. It is possible to be healthy and fit as an expediter, but it won't happen by itself.

I also have high blood pressure. But for some reason the blood thinners have helped bring my BP down. My last reading a week or so ago was 130 over 86. While not optimal, that is pretty good considering the fact that it's been up to 169 over 99 at times. High blood pressure is nothing to screw around with. A lot of my blood pressure problems are due to being overweight. My body mass index is right around 40. I need to lose 100 pounds to get back to my normal body weight. I really want to lose the pounds, but it's easier said than done. I had three new years resolutions this year and I've already hit two of them so far. I wanted to gain 5 more pounds, smoke a couple of cigarettes, and find a girlfriend. lol.

On another note, I'm on day four with no Norco's. I've completely stopped taking the Narcotic pain medications for four days now with no adverse side-effects, or noticeable withdrawal symptoms. I am taking 1-2 non-narcotic Tramadol's a night to taper off the pain while I sleep, but I'm getting acclimated to dealing with the un-medicated pain levels throughout the day. I walked up the stairs normally today, just a lot slower than I used to be able to. I think I can get a handle on this thing if I keep on fighting and pushing myself to do more physical activity. The only thing I hate about the Tramadol is that is makes me a little bit weird, and I have been having a lot of lucid dreams and hallucinations in the middle of the night. Last night was a good dream, I was with a woman! I'll leave it at that!

Glad to hear you're making progress, lol.
There's just so much that is unknown about the human brain, and how various chemicals affect it, and it may be entirely different for me than for you. For example, there's one antibiotic [Cipro] that gives me nightmares, literally.
Anyhow, keep moving - it gets easier the more you do it.
