On the QUALCOMM it also gives our drivers the order in which the trucks are set for dispatch. On our website it includes other carriers and does not reflect position in class.

There WAS a "search for equipment" tool has was on another carrier's web site that was very useful because we could see truck numbers. In concert with the QualComm, it enabled us to see where NOT to go. If the QualComm told us there was 4 trucks in Louisville ahead of us for instance, by using that search for equipment tool, we could see exactly where all 4 really were in that 75 mile diameter the QualComm revealed. We've seen all 4 in Elizabethtown and south, leaving north of Louisville wide open. We could move 25 miles north and be first out in a very large area, improving both our chance to roll sooner and our carriers coverage/response to inquiries. I'm sure there are better examples but I believe adding truck numbers would be very valuable to your resourceful drivers and Load-1, based on our actual use of such a tool!

We could also see the size & weight capacities of each to determine if we could carry significantly larger and/or heavier loads to help us decide the need to move. The only information that would have been of additional value would be fields for haz-mat and solo/team (E-1 will not allow solos more than 650 miles so no teams meant everything over 650 miles would be ours, even if there were 4 trucks "in front" of us for less than 650 mile runs.)

Sometimes dispatch would help us with all this info but it was better staying off the phone so they could obtain loads rather than helping us with information we could get ourselves, if we only had the tool.

I think there were a few problems arising from that info that caused L1 to restrict some of it. I believe other carriers were happy to see it restricted as well...best I remember John's comments about it.

I also think that it would be important to note that the tool you mention is placed there for the benefit of Load One customers. Any benefit to contractors is just a bonus....especially contractors of other carriers.

Maybe you could ask E-1 to add such a page to their website including all the pertinent info. Please ask that the info be available to the rest of us as well though :D

I never used Load-1 tools in any way. It was ANOTHER carrier OTHER than Load-1. Their "search for equipment" tool no longer works at all. I sense they may not see any value in it. Load-1 COULD set up another password protected tool just for their drivers which would be useful I am certain.

If you read my other posts, you would know I do not believe in "run less miles for even less money." I'll make no such request.

the one other company that had it discontinued it entirely. then i started using the load one tool. then the truck numbers were eliminated. load one didnt close off the truck number info. it was discontinued at the source. the truck numbers were useful for me, because it was easier to see if the glut of vehicles were major expediters or local. so ive adapted to other ways.
