I take the European approach to all of it, but again I live in a puritan country where we can't talk about things or see nudity because it is a sex crime.

The only thing I don't like and think it is improper is sitting there eating and then the kid start screaming - take the brat outside.

Why you have a problem with it?

Absolutely not, no problem when done discreetly,
unless one looks closely one can not even tell what she is doing....
it is the ones that bluntly whip out the feedbag and display to all.

I also don't have a Problem with it as Long as she is Intelligent enough to cover it up and Not just"Bluntly whips out the Feedbag as OVM Puts it! Lol :D

I agree there's nothing inherently wrong with it and would hope discretion is used.

I lived in Europe many years. Breast feeding in public goes unnoticed because it is normal. No one ogles and women cover themselves with a blanket usually. It is as normal as seeing women topless on a beach.

AND it's like going to a bathroom to relieve yourself and find that there is only one that women and men both use.

Discrete or not, a kid's gotta eat. A boob-n-nipple on display while a baby is feeding wouldn't bother me at all.

Then again, a boob-n-nipple on display while a kid isn't feeding wouldn't bother me much, either.

You know how it is, once you've see one nipple, you wanna see 'em all.

I once had a freind call me one night when I was at home in bed with my ex asking me if a babies mouth was attached to a females nipple, does that count as a hooter shot? I about fell off of the bed laughing.

What is the big deal here? My wife did this and so did both my daughters with their kids. If the infant is hungry in public, feed him/her with your boob covered- most people won't notice. Those that do notice won't care unless they're lurking for a look to see nature at work. Much ado about nothing,

Absolutely no problem with it. A kid has to eat. Tho even when discretion is used, there's always a chance of a nipple flash, ppl tend not to notice. But it's the man-child who gets upset, and complains to management when a baby is nursing.

Tho my wife has never been confronted, she knows some women who were, or were kicked out of restaurants and Walmarts for nursing.

Ok, so I'm not a guy, but WOW! When t-hawk (my hubby) told me about this thread, I had to check it out for myself. He didn't tell me what the responses were, but I feared the worst. However, you guys have really impressed me!

I am so jaded and used to hearing the negatives about women breastfeeding in general, nevermind in public, that your responses warm my heart!

FTR, I have breastfed our kids many times in public. Sometimes even while walking through a store. (Thank God for nursing tops!) Most of the time ppl thought they were sleeping. I have only ever had 2 comments when I was nursing outside the home and they were both positive.

At the beginning I quickly learned that a blanket was more of a nuisance than a cover and when I tried using one it was the only time that I actually flashed anyone-when my daughter pulled it off!

I can honestly say I've never seen a woman "whip it out" to nurse, but hey, whatever one is comfortable with. I think most women just want to be able to do it without being bothered. "Discrete" can be a very loaded word. Until you've tried to nurse a baby, you don't realize how hard it can be to keep covered up. Plus, people's perception of what is discrete or not really varies.

Anyways, from someone who has spent several years trying to educate people on a woman's rights to breastfeed wherever and whenever she needs to, I thank you and I applaud you! :)
