A great product

I have stumbled onto a great product to help keep your truck/car or whatever looking good longer.

It's liquid clay bar made by Turtle Wax.This stuff is great for removing tar,bugs,overspray and anything that attaches itself to your paint.It will also remove the glue residue left behind from removing vinyl graphics and does a pretty good job of lessening the "shadowing effect" when the graphics have been on for awhile.

A little bit of elbow grease is required on stubborn stuff,but not nearly as much if you were using polishing compound or goo gone.Try it,you'll like it.DD.

I wholeheartedly agree. Last week I installed the air tabs on the Sprinter. They have to be installed on a stone-cold clean surface. I cleaned the surface where the air tabs would go, then immediately noticed the uber-clean white strip where I had cleaned, the rest of the van being a polite dingy gray. I cleaned the entire van with a healthy mix of degreaser (that the label said to not let it come in contact with painted surfaces) and car wash detergent, which removed the fingerprints on my right hand, as well as the top 2 or 3 layers of skin, but it got the van clean. (If you use such a degreaser, wash and rise smaller sections at a time, because if the degreaser, a strong caustic base, is allowed to dry, it will, absolutely, eat the paint right off your truck.)

Then I used the Turtle Wax ICE Liquid Clay. Didn't take that much elbow grease, actually. Put it on, hose it off, surface of the van is smoother'n a baby's bottom. Smooth as glass. Takes polution, road grime, diesel soot, all of it, right off and out of the topcoat layer of the paint.

I then used the same Turtle Wax ICE synthetic liquid wax. Looks and feels like baby oil, goes on easy, rubs off with minimal buffing.

The liquid clay and synthetic wax isn't cheap, something like $16 a bottle, but it goes a long way. If you've ever used regular detailing clays, you'll doubly appreciate the liquid clay. It's some pretty amazing stuff.

Here's a really good article on detailing clays. Once you read it, you'll definitely appreciate just the concept of liquid clay. :)

Talking about great products...

"Windex with vinegar", easily spotted by being clear instead of the usual blue, is excellent for getting glass clean and streak free. Use with two microfibre towels, one for the first rub followed up by the second for buffing.

Alternatively one can make their own "great product" by mixing a vinegar & water solution then pouring it into a spray bottle. Start with a 50/50 ratio and decrease the vinegar from there to whatever level works best for you.

If your glass is in good shape you will swear there is nothing between you and what you are viewing on the outside.

Milder version of a degreaser would to use "Dawn" brand dishwashing soap and water. Works very well.

I have seen this product in the automotive depts;

I have the REAL CLAY BAR and kit. Use it over and over and over for years, this is probably the best item for car paint other than a regular wash.

My vehicles look NEW.
