Most grownups know that its a dog eat dog world, and I don't have a problem with that. My thing is if your going to call someone something spit it out and back it with some facts.

Let us all ".....let sleeping dogs lay...", I think that's how the saying goes. In other words, let's drop the whole thing. I stand behind what I said....nothing's going to change it. I will not say anything else on this subject for various reasons. I truely meant it when I wished dragonlady & all her drivers the best of luck in their new endeavor. Yes, trucking, like everything else in this world, seems to be a dog-eat-dog thing. Sad but all too true. It's how we deal with it and survive that makes us who & what we are in life. With the economy the way it is, it's hard for all of us to survive and thrive but we CAN do it.

regardless of the statrments made by both parties, i think most of us o/o would agree that some carriers out there do make special deals to fleets. published proof or not, we have seen the posts on here and some have personaly experienced these actions. not saying this is a case of this, just pointing out that it does happen and know matter how it is swept under the rug, when you lift it back up it is still there.

I Heard from a Tri-State driver (Father In Law) about 3-4 Months ago That a Large Fleet Owner Demanded More From Tri-State or he would Pull His Trucks! But it "WAS NOT JUDD", Tri-State Gave Him and His Fleet Their walking Papers.... I'm Not Saying that The Company Wingnut was Referring to was this Other Company or Not! But it Could Have Been!!

As a fleet owner, if they cut their rate as reported several months ago, I would be demanding a higher rate as well or they would have got my walking papers, not the other way around.

We are not owners, we are drivers, but I would think that as a business owner it would be more as Dave said and not the other way around.

Whats the difference E1 did it a few years ago when they started their major account list.IF they where on this list the contractor got $1.12 a mile for D unit.IF not its $1.20 the only problem when i was with them and it was for almost 2 yrs i asked for this so called list and one could not be provided. Then how do i know if a customer is on the list or not.At that time almost everything we where hauling was $1.12 a mile. Also i talked to a E1 Team driving for a owner and they where telling me they dont have this because there owner negotiated it when he brought all his trucks to E1.Now is that fair HELL NO.Also a friend of mine was there head dispatcher and is no longer there and we had a conversation about this major acct crap and he was telling me that E1 was billing them the same amount as before just the contractor was getting less.

I'll bet this has been the case with most of the fleets and o/o's that have left TS this year. When they went to lower compensation for their drivers and started laying off salesmen and office staff, it might be fair to speculate that they went into survival mode. To think that they're doing as well this year as they've ever done is nonsense.

I'm not with E1, but the difference for me would be that rate. If they can't provide a "list" then there is your answer. They have no intention of paying a 1.20 except maybe in a rare instance.
Don't really know, but would seem like common sense.
The minute you hear "major account" in a turbulent economy, that would be all of them I would imagine. What are the chances?
If a fleet owner negotiated a higher rate, the argument could be made that they are entitled because of a larger investment.
Couple different sides to the coin.
As for billing, they likely are charging the customer the same. Wouldn't be likely they set a rate to the customer based on who's truck is there.

I think they all vary. We are on a flat rate but our rate stays the same. Every so often we get a reduced rate load offer that we sometimes take and sometimes not, but ours stays pretty consistent except for Elite jobs. The difference there is it is always higher than our standard milage rate, rather than less.
I also can broker my own job if I am not interested in something cheap.
