A few questions about van types, navigation and ro

I've read through all the forums but since I'm looking to start with a class A vehicle I'd like to ask some more questions:

1. Is there a preferred make or ? I'm looking to buy new to avoid surprise maintenance issues, at least for a while. This is probably a personal preferrence item but I wanted to see if there was a general consenus.

2. I know you might never get the same route twice, so how many times do you get "lost" along the way? Do you have onboard gizmos (GPS?) that make this a moot point? I know it's in the company's best interest to make sure you deliver the load, but I wonder how much they support you on the road since you're an IC.

3. What are some experiences when you've broken down on the road? I know you have to be resourceful. Are there some road service companies for truckers (sort of like AAA)?

I'm hoping to cover as many bases as possible before starting.

Thanks for your patience.

RE: A few questions about van types, navigation an

We use a delorme mapping program through our laptop. With our carrier directions are provided via the qual-comm. Some are pretty accurate and some are off a little.
Don't know much on the vans but for durability it seems either a ford or a chevy seems to be the choice.

davekc, you mention a delorme mapping program. Is this a cd program used with your lap top, or is this an online program? Thanks. :+ :+

Sounds like good info. I went to the DeLorme web site. This looks like a very good item to have on board. Thanks. :+ :+
