A&E shipping wars LOL

Oh...and it just dawned on me too.......

U-Ship freight is usually just 1 way freight, ESPECIALLY when it comes to Boats.

So in other words, with your deadheading involved, you were actually running that 1 Ton Dually for .47-.48 cents to .75 cents a mile, NOT .95 to 1.50 a mile.

Honestly, with what you just said above, you ARE a problem to other "legitimate" trucking individuals by only charging .95 to $1.50 a mile pulling stuff with a 1 Ton Dually. You may not have realized it at the time, but you always have been a "Cheap Freight" hauler. Even with a 1 Ton Dually, hauling for those rates under your own authority and insurance just is not a money making venture whatsoever. Especially since you said you were doing it in 2010 when Diesel Prices were still in the $3.75 PLUS a gallon price range.

I used to run at those rates ($1.00 - $1.50 a mile) when Diesel was .99 cents to $1.49 and so. Made real good $$$ doing it too. Parked my 2007 Dually in 2007 when I paid $3.49 a gallon for Diesel while under load with a Trailer that was paying $1.30 a mile. (After delivery of course ;) ) Have not been on the road since.

Guess some of us are little smarter than others when it comes to running Smart, know what I mean.

Well brisco he was making money and doing what it took to make it. He was making more than most straight trucks out here today.

I agree those aren't the best rates having his own authority but it isn't $.30 to $.50 a mile he was running for. Based on armin's other post he is looking at expedite companies (possibly rates were getting to low for him to keep running his own equipment) for a reason. You know quitting while he is ahead?

When Diesel Prices are $3.75 - $4.00 - $4.25 PLUS a gallon, there aint no difference between .30 to .50 / .48 to .75 / or .95 to 1.50 per mile rates. These rates are ALL losing propositions when it comes to making $$$ while running under your own Authority, Insurance, Etc, Period.

The guy was running for .48 to .75 cents and mile, plain and simple. NOT a moneymaker at all, IMO.

I watched it tonight. My take is that as long as Uship is sponsoring it, the shows will be about Uship. I don't see our industry being effected by it much. It could benefit us in fact. All of those people that think they want to play truck driver for a while will jump right into the Uship mess and go broke, never to return again. The Uship freight is already dirt cheap, a fresh supply of new idiots will only drive the rates down even more.

You may very well be right. The problem is, the supply seems to be unlimited.

Oh, I agree that there may be an unlimited supply..at least until the economy recovers, IF it recovers. I just think that it will be somewhat contained to Uship. There may be a few who would actually research other segments of the industry, but I think most will just want to take whatever piece of junk they may have, or can get their hands on, proclaim themselves to be professionals and start bidding on Uship freight.

With all the bad mouthing and bashing of Uship and the implication that EO is for real truckers....why is the "Find Loads" button on the tool bar send you straight to the Uship website? Should there be a more neutral approach? Or offer more options to other free load boards. Makes you wonder. I guess with Uship it's like Ebay, we raised a dragon which suddenly became to mighty. If you look at another board (shipalmostanything), they manage to have only 25 bids on average on their board.
Safe driving everyone

Because Uship is an advertiser on the site and they paid to have that link there.

Should there be a more neutral approach?
Neutral is as money does.

I wonder how long it will be before some Newb goes to pick up some USHIP laod and doesnt tie it down right, or rolls the trailer over cuz there jammin and going to fast, I saw where one of them loses part of the load off a trailer, Lowes and Home Depot have truck services that deliver there Large product trucks from JB Hunt, But leasing 26 foot box trucks to Joe Blow is a recipe for disaster i think, Its bad enough U Haul does it and there trucks dont even have the proper tie downs, folks use Rope and stuff, or just pile them so full it cant move, LOL....I dont see the Ushippers gettin into REAL freight, most of those loads are LOW BALLED with guys bidding on the loads, you have to connect three, four, five loads to make it worth it...Good Comedy show but yes many will see Incompetent TRUCKERS and we all get painted with that brush far too often...

DOT needs to be waiting and look in back of these trucks to see if the loads are properly secured or if its hazardous materials.

It's a funny thing, you pull a load for a company that pays top dollar, they are nice people, easy to get along with and you never hear a complaint. You pull a load for a cheap company and you get nothing but crap. These people that that ship cheap;) like this as well as those who hire them will fail, its just a matter of time.

Don't worry. There is a long long line of people willing to replace them.

No comments on tonight shows?

Hauling 2 Bulls over 1000 miles, having to pay for lodging and feed for both the bulls and the driver for 2 nights/3 days, for only $1000 was absolutely ridiculous. 3 days of work and wear & tear on ones truck & trailer for a $543 profit, again, ridiculous. Plus, she was running illegal as all hell.

The others (the tanks, the antigue car, & the Heli-Truck-Motorcycle) were a little profitable, but they could have done a little better if the "Shippers" had used and paid for services through a "Legal" shipping/broker service.

No Comment...........I guess........;)

The guy in the van pulling a trailer was really pitiful. He's probably already out of business. Matter of fact was it a business? It also amazes me that no one challenges cargo and liability insurance with such high valued freight.
