Good Afternoon! Sorry we haven't been able to post before now!
We have been running hard right from the expo!
It was a pleasure to meet all of you and be able to put names with faces! It was refreshing to see commradery still exists in the industry! Sindy and I learned alot from you all, but, we still have alot to learn! Thank you Lawrence! We hope to make it bigger an better next year! Linda and Bob Caffee! (yes Bob does exist!lol) Genie, Susie, Cherie, Layoutshooter and his "BETTER HALF"!lol Jack Berry and his wife , Transporter, who sent me into diabetic shock with those awesome buttermilk pies! This was our first bbq, we have an idea what to expect now so we will be working very closely with one another to streamline everything! Making sure everything on the menu gets cooking at the correct times! Getting the charcoal started way earlier and getting the food prepared sonner are some of the things I personally will be focusing on! And I cannot forget to mention the world famous ONTARIO VAN MAN! Thanks for helping with the grilling! Everyone was a huge help to making it all happen! Sindy and I had a blast on America's Truckin' Network with Bubba Bo, had alot of good calls! (Linda Caffee!)lol, she was totally exhausted and managed to call in and give her summary on the show! Very few negatives! Mostly positive! We have totally enjoyed the experience and learned alot! Thanks Everybody!;)

Just found Paula Dean's recipe for buttermilk pie...looks pretty easy to make...anyone tried this recipe?

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup biscuit(recommended: Bisquick
  • 1/3 cup (5 1/3 tablespoons) butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs
Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-inch pie pan.
Put all ingredients in a bowl and blend for 1 minute with a handheld electric mixer. Pour mixture into prepared pan. Bake for about 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes.

Anyone else think buttermilk pie [which was GOOD!] is the same as chess pie?
Anyone else ever heard of chess pie?!

Back on topic: we owe Rodney a big thanks - he jumped right in and worked hard to make the cookout great, and he and Sindy are a welcome addition to the Goober Gallery here on EO.:D

World Famous yet...let my ego be stilled...*LOL*

The BBQ was really a team effort... so many who helped out even in a small way....we pulled it off and that is what counts...:D

OVM is correct! There is no "I" in Team! We showed the commradery with the different named trucks around the tent! There was no company bashing! Just healthy discussions on the strengths and weaknesses all companies share! Again, it was a pleasure meeting everyone, and lets make next year bigger and better!:)

Plain chess [also came in lemon flavor] is an egg custard pie served at Piccadilly Cafeteria. It may be original, as they make everything there from scratch, and buttermilk pie tastes the same, if memory serves...

sorry we missed it this year, sounds like it was a good time. unfortunetly there are certain things we cant control, but we will be there next year for sure. this year has been a learning experience for us. so if that kept me from expo and i learned something its a fair trade off, but tina and i missed seeing you all.

Please Please tell me you do not mean this!!! Buttermilk Pie and 911 go together. That stuff is lethal.

What happened to good old fashioned Strawberry Rhubarb or Raisin Cream Pie or maybe even Peach Pie?

Tom and Tina you missed one heck of a good time. The Expo is always exhausting but this one ... There was something to do constantly and lots of new people to meet and not enough time to catch up with old friends.

Hard to even imagine how "Cool" (it was really HOT) the next Expo will be.

You are right it is a team effort and everyone pulled together, took ownership and just jumped right in and filled in a gap that needed to be filled. The more the merrier always seems to be the Motto at the Expo!

I sure did miss seeing Jamin Jim this year at the expo? Was anyone lucky enough to get the chance to visit with this elusive character?
