9/11 Feelings

Jeffman and I were at Ground Zero 11 months ago. 2:30 am, raining, no one around. Anything, anywhere else, it would merely be a construction site. Not here, not knowing what happened. Goosebumps, lump in the throat. In March, we went to Shanksville, PA. To the unknowing, it's just a field. Tears in eyes, tightening of chest. If you have been to these places, you know what I mean. If not, stop by if you are in the areas and have time. They hit you harder than you would think.

I lost a relative in one of those towers...distant relative but still hurtful.

What is really bad...all they found in some areas was their shoes...and blood...nothing else.

Then on top of all this, I had a boy friend go serve but did not come back..

We shouldn't be celebrating failures, but victories.

The events on that day were certainly this country's biggest failure to date. We supplied the targets, the training and the weapons and a handful of goat herders changed the way we go about our daily lives.

I think that is a very important point, a small group of people changed the way a nation of 300+ million people live. I'm sure the intelligence community does what they can but it only takes a couple of people to attack.

That should be the only point. If we look back and with a clear vision of what happened, we will see what they did. It wasn't the attack, it wasn't their intent to just destroy a target, the UN was also considered. It was their intent to change how we look at things and cause us internal division. This was also the idea that Japan and Germany had before the war, they knew given the right circumstances we would have chosen the easier path. They failed, as should have the terrorists but in reality, we have changed drastically and accepted things as a necessary to continue down the path with blinders on.

I'm sure the intelligence community does what they can but it only takes a couple of people to attack.

I am starting to think that they can't do what they can, not because they don't want to but because of the political nature involved in the intel world but more importantly we are an open and supposibly a free society.

I just read one of the stupidest headlines in a long time - No Signs of US Entry for Terror Plot ... Senior U.S. officials say there's no evidence that anyone linked to al-Qaida has entered the country to carry out an attack on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

How d*mn stupid to make a statement like that when they can't even confirm there is a plot.
