Nellis AFB Las Vegas
Silverton Casino
Over 200 Airman and their families
The Silverton Casino located just across the street from the Las Vegas TA hosts a couple amazing events. These two events are free to all Airmen of the RED HORSE Squadron and their families.
The first event was a pre employment event that matched local residents and deploying airman to receive emails, care packages, and letters.
We were able to attend the Welcome home event at the Casino and we were amazed at the generosity shown. The night included all you could eat and drink at the Mexican Restaurant that had been closed to the public for this private party. The Silverton offered a reduced rate to the Airman in attendance if they wanted a room.
The owner of the Casino was in attendance but he did nothing to draw attention to himself he just seemed to enjoy watching the Airman enjoy their evening with their families. No money exchanged hands as you were not even able to tip the wait staff as you were promptly told they were being more then justly compensated.
We are often amazed at the generosity shown our daughter. While in uniform and at a restaurant often she goes to pay her bill and some anonymous patron has picked up the bill. She receives many emails, letters and hand drawn pictures from school children while deployed. This time while deployed she had a homemade quilt on her cot. We were overwhelmed to witness this huge amount of generosity shown this large group of Airman and their families by the Silverton Casino.
