How exactly does this work out for the driver?
60/40 split

Whomever gets the 60% usually pays for fuel, tolls and so on. The owner pays for maintenance.
Sixty to the driver helps both driver and owner; the driver learns how to save fuel and drive more gently while doing so, and that leads to less wear and tear on the truck. That helps the owner. It also gives the driver business skills they can use after buying their own vehicle.

Is the driver making money?
Too many variables to say for sure. BTW, I own my own van. For vanners, not a whole lot to go around. For straight trucks, it's a wise way to start

Sounds smart. With that, you're out of my wheelhouse; keep searching the forum for info, cos there's a lot of successful people posting here and they're very helpful

I had another fleet owner contact me today with a 40/60 split and they pay everything! Leased with Panther just gotta weigh my options!
If you just want to be a steering wheel holder, 40/60 is the way to go, IMO.

thats the way in thinking too! Nothing to lose 42 years old single and kids are grown and gone! Nothing to really hold me back! Im seeing it as a win win situation!
