$52,000 a year driving an E unit ?

A member of another forum that is right out of CDL school claims "FedEx Critical" called him to drive one of their tractors for $52,000 a year . I'm a little doubtful .

Maybe he forgot to hear or figure out the part where it'll cost him $60000 in expenses to make that $52000 :D

I would be doubtful too, since FedEx Custom Critical does not own any tractors.

When Diane and I were new, it took a while to learn and understand the differences between the various divisions (operating companies, or "OPCOs" as FedEx calls them) and the various employment or independent contractor relationships they offer. Tossing fleet owners into the mix further complicates the picture.

To most people, FedEx is FedEx. Many are not even aware of the different colors the FedEx logo comes in to communicate the difference in operating companies. We often point that out to customers saying "We (Custom Critical) are 'FedEx Blue.'" Most people are surprised to realize that while they have been looking at the FedEx logos all their lives, they did not notice the different colors. (The "Fed" is purple in all logos. The "Ex" comes in different colors.)

If you question your friend further, it would not surprise me a bit to learn that he is one of the millions of people who looks as FedEx as one company instead of a large company with several divisions. For all we know, a FedEx Ground fleet owner may be trolling the school looking for drivers.

Dunno bout fedup, but, we had a driver that wuz consistently well over 50k for a half dozen years, driving a heavy D, single, at 40%. But, we NEVER found anything that he "didn't wanna" do. We sold out on 1 jul 08, an his 1099 wuz 34k for the first half. Maybe there is a difference. An maybe yer bud can git r done.

I am one of those "most people". I have never noticed the different colors in the "Ex".

It may not be impossible but even at 60% the truck would have to gross over $300,000 . He didn't give much info . The thing is he's fresh out of tractor trailer school . He's not the first one I've heard of a fleet owner hiring with a fresh CDL . Maybe they figure somebody green will adapt better than an old OTR driver .

Yes I know, 300K might be a stretch to gross. But, it's the same old number game, 40% of 60% is one thing, and 40% of a hunnert percent is quite anuther thing. I'd much rather have 40% of a hunnert percent. There is some newsy stuff on that other site. Ain't there?

The newsy stuff is only a small percentage . A large percentage of fantasies , BS , and misinformation . A lot of good people trying to enlighten the misinformed though . They don't allow links to other forums . I've gotten a pm from admin advising me to refrain from suggesting people inquiring about expediting should try Googling expedite forums .
