I read on this site somewhere that you can make a million dollars expediting. So, all you have to do is divide a million by however many months you are going to run. Guess it's up to you.

It will be easier if you figure a way to make $1000, then just do it again, 1000 times...you got your million!

Seriously, I expect you should average about $6-7K monthly once you get the hang of your carrier, your truck and your business, not necessarily in that order.

terry and rene,
i know you know what you are talking about, but just to clarify I'm sure you're talking gross not net, correct? Not trying to step on you alls toes just don't to take the slim chance that someone might get confused. Again I'm not questioning your knowledge.

I rarely know what I'm talking about so my $6-7K figure was a guesstimate of the monies that a solo in a D truck should average in order to GROSS about $72,000.

Noone should presuppose any persons net proceeds without knowing their work ethic, truck operating expenses, cherry master habits and other serious road expenses, miles averaged by a specific carrier's trucks, etc, etc.

I just have to say that you guys and gals that respond to all of our questions and queries on this board deserve cudos!

If it wasn't for your patient and kind responses many of us would not make it long in this business. It can be complicated, confusing and down right bewildering to even a mind that has been operating a small manufacturing business all their careers.

If we don't have a business plan before entering the business, how can we expect to know the important factors in determining whether we can be a success at any level of income expected.

What good does it mean to look at "gross revenues" if we don't control our costs? What does it mean to look for carrier's to lease with if they don't fit our geography, lanes of freight, and willingness to layover for better paying loads?

After only 3+ years in the business, I am just now learning about myself and my own energy levels. To succeed in this or any other business we have to have "hustle," "hutzbah," and "fire in our belly!"

In a B unit and working hard 220 days a year I netted after taxes in 2006 about $44,000. The other 145 days were spent with my grandchildren, the woman I married 43 years ago and my hobby's. HOW GOOD DOES IT GET?

B UNIT; CHICAGO RESIDENT; 68 YEARS YOUNG; HATE PAPERWORK AND WHO NEEDS A SLEEPER IN A B UNIT?
