Leo, Your always bashing the smoker...I smoke because I have the choice and when I stop smoking it will be my choice...the last time I drank a DR.Peper I do not remember it being free!!

No bashing, just reporting, as although I knew it was a lot I never imagined it could be that expensive. And sometimes some people want certain people to stop because they care about their friendship and well being.

From the article:

Costs over lifetime: $86,000 (for a 24-year old woman over a lifetime); $183,000 (for a 24-year old man over a lifetime)

of course not including the insurance costs....

IMO it probably is twice that Leo....$500,000 would be more like it....if one totals in ALL the subsiduary costs of smoking...

I bet if you knew the medical costs of the 8-10 yrs smoking takes away, you'd find the cigs are cheaper- - just sayin...
Sure glad it takes the last years, and not the ones when I was having a good time, lol ;)

It costs a heck of a lot whatever the number is. I don't care what people do as long as it doesn't affect my air. When it involves my air I object to smoking. I also don't care what most people do but there are some people I care about as better than good friends for life so I wish those people didn't smoke.

Oh, and my bad, worse than most probably, Dr. Pepper habit costs me about $50 a month, $600 a year, maybe $30k lifetime.

Since I started down the path to a dirt nap, due to Emphysema, Medicare, BC/BS & me, have probably already spent/cost a hundred grand. Thanks, Marlboro.

This country sure has changed. In the New America it is deemed by many to be acceptable and politically correct to suck on anything but a cigarette. I sure miss the old America.
