24' flatbed

Anybody have any thoughts on using a 24' flatbed (straight truck)
for expediting? Or is a van or reefer better suited?

A dry box or reefer would be your best bet,almost no demand for flat bed work in expediting that I know of..

Kind of what I thought. Which do you think is better, van or reefer? Is there much expedited reefer loads out there?

Reefer demand is growing in the expediting market,there seems to be more demand in the winter to keep freight warm than the traditional reefer use.We have stayed out of that market because we basically take it easy in the winter,but thats us,other folks run their wheels off and stay very busy.With a reefer box you can always haul regular freight so you have double the chances for trips, and your layover time will probably be much less.Now on the other hand I have heard from many reefer folks that it!s basically a break even proposition.If you amortize the cost of the reefer box and unit over the life of the truck your additional revenue covers the higher costs of the unit..
