Thank you for the update. I'm sure there are many people interested in how the Duramax performs in a van. I guess you are the designated guinea pig. Please keep us informed as to performance, handling and m.p.g. Also what does your rig weigh full of fuel and with any modifications, i.e. sleeper, extra batteries and such?. Is a 2nd starting battery standard equipment? Please relate your personal feelings both pro an con. Is this van replacing another van that you have had in expedite service? If so, what is it replacing and how do the two compare. I know I'm asking alot, but your experience could influence many people. I'm sure all interested parties will appreciate hearing from you in the near future.
Thank you,

Sorry, but I have one more question regarding a previous post; why were you topping off with tranny fluid in Florida? Is transmission leaking fluid?

Thank you for posting a very informative post. This is the kind of information people need when considering vehicles. Please keep us updated periodically on how it's performing and what, if anything, you think would improve the specs on it. Good luck to you with it.

This was an initial purchase for me.

I wasn't topping off the tranny fluid in Florida. Just in for an oil change, but service folks should check all fluid levels. I just was surprised that a GM Service Tech didn't have Dextron IV available and didn't even know that the 2006 models use Dextron IV. Had the tranny been within range, but not quite at the full mark, I was concerned that the unknowing Service Tech might have added Dextron III by mistake. This is something 2006 owners need to discuss with the service tech BEFORE he performs any service on the van. Many smaller dealers do not sell very many Duramax cargo vans. The buyer often has to bring the dealership up to speed; moreover, to protect your investment!

There is a second battery mounted on the frame just behind the driver's door.

No sleeper.

Fueled and with my personal junk on board it weighs 6480lbs.
