If you want to earn $2.86 per mile based on %60 of gross, sell your $252,000+ truck and buy a used $1,500 4 dr and come to West Palm Beach Florida.

I had to take a Taxi back to my truck today and the fee for 8.9 miles came to $42.50. DH for the CAB was 0 miles. The break down was; $2.50 start, .33 for each 1/12 mile, .30 for each 36 seconds idle (includes waiting at stop lights) traffic, etc. Not a bad return for the investment...perhaps a "Successful Taxi Drivers" web site should be created to advise all of how great it is.

Why the difference? What makes the pay rate so much higher for a used car than for a 1/4 million dollar truck?

I believe "dealing with people" all day is the deciding factor in the pay differential. Also, how many times have you cleaned puke out of the back of your truck?

do you have any idea what the the price of authority it cost to operate that cab,plus,how about theft?you can have all the cabs you can buy.I have a ggod friend that owns 3 cabs in NYC.He has a hard time keeping drivers,and the medalions for each cab costs more than you can believe.He is an owner opp hauling cars and trucks,he uses tha cabs as a tax write off

And how many times has your freight pulled a gun on you? The taxi drivers can have it, two killed in my area in the last month. Wouldn't do it for $10 a mile.

When I did it for about 5 yrs...the cost to buy a taxi plate was around 150,000...then the car expense and the leasing of radio equipment and on and on...expedite is childs play compared to taxi owner.....
