just as I suspected I received elevn load opportunties and wasn't first out on any.

pretty irritating I was laid over in erie first in
line received Load Opportunties from everywhere but erie.. it was ridiculous hundred of dh miles which made the rate offered to our truck pitiful anyway this new system sucks.

Glad you posted this Easy.

I am right now in the same boat was not gona Post, reading yours though here I go.

I called my Detroit office they really take great care of me. I need to be in Detroit tommorow unloaded yesterday in Cleveland. My own Agent had some leads NO LUCK. Detriot IMM. called me back with CLVD to Port Huron which would be a 65 DH back to Detroit 45,000lbs for get this $1.37 a mile.

That much weight means tops MPG low, low 6s plus a Cat Scale plus Ohio TPK tolls. Here I was expecting to hear $400s total pay was $329. Good reason to obide by the sticker SAY NO TO CHEAP FREIGHT! Use to be that was a Wabbler $4.76 a gallon here in Cleveland figure fuel alone to be $186.50 plus DH another $42.75 for a days worth of committment all for $99.75. I will DH for my two loads rather than do that to myself or the Industry. I forgot subtract the toll and the Cat Scale.

Someone was gona make some change on this load (Brokers) but not the O.O.

I think I mispoke. I was complaining about recieiving 11 Load Opportunties and not being first in line for any of them. FECC has a new ridiculous dispatch system that sends the same load to three trucks at the same time. So since I was in Erie Pa I was getting pinged over and over last truck in line for runs all over northen Ohio, every ten minutes I was pinged with this stupid system
didn't actually get any of the runs because I was third DVA due to deadhead miles even though I was first on the Erie board.

I was even sent one with 300 mile dh for a 150 mile run it paid a buck a mile, I was last for that one too; I wouldn't have run it anyway but that's not my point.

I have a friend stuck in Erie area as well was inundated with cheap offers all day too....he couldn't get to sleep proper with the beeping all day. Even with no hours available to drive these offers kept coming...appears some twinking is needed.

Easy, not to be too negative but if you want a real discussion about the way your company is doing a certain something you should post it in the company forum so those drivers who experience the same problems (in the same company) will have an understanding of what you are commenting on. That is just my opinion, of course.

It is like having problem in your family and you want to question other family members but you don't especially want everyone outside the family commenting on something that only involves your family. Other companies are not using this method of dispatching loads so the subject will tend to change when you post something on a generic forum...at least that has been my experience.

Ihamner, I agree with you. but I also disagree. I suggested this type of forum (carrier specific) a couple of years ago. But I don't think that it should be for current drivers /owner operators only. It would be better in my opinion if others could also post to something that they may have knowledge about. Otherwise make the forum hidden from all except for those allowed to post in the thingy.

He would've taken em if he could've, but they were snapped up by the 2 ahead of him on each offer, that's what's frustrating him.. all these beeps with no real offer for him as 3rd on the list.

I presume the problem was being far away from each of the shippers which meant always being 3rd in line behind trucks closer to the pickup. Otherwise one would have to move up in line. Although no system is perfect, I believe the positives of sending the offer to 3 trucks at once outweigh the negatives. For the operator it gives them extra time to get to the shipper if they aren't the first out truck but still get the load. There have been plenty of times under the old system of not getting the offer until the first 2 trucks have turned it down that the pickup time now is a challenge. In our case it's 15 minutes per truck to decide so if I'm 3rd out and get it I've gained up to 30 extra minutes to get to that shipper.

From a drivers standpoint, the two most annoying things about that system would be being woke up for a load that I had a one in three chance of getting, and seeing loads go to other trucks on the second day of sitting in a marginal freight area.

LDB, If you are the third truck offered and each truck took their 15 minutes, didn't you lose 30 minutes to the protect time? Maybe I missed something?

Yes, that was my point. Say it's 30 miles to the shipper and the pickup time is in 90 minutes. Under our current system truck 1 gets 15 minutes to respond and finally says no. Ditto truck 2. Now it's 60 minutes to the pickup time and I just this instant get the load offer. I've got to do a 15 minute PTI before I can roll. Now I've got 45 minutes which depending on location and traffic may be cutting it really close whereas if I'd gotten the load in the original offer I'd have 75 minutes for 30 miles.

I agree it could be frustrating knowing there are loads you aren't getting. The advantages are more time on the loads you do get as well as the positive impact on the customers when we arrive earlier. That potentially can solidify those relationships and result in more loads.

i see negative revues, but in my own case,it hasnt been true. I myself like the new system, but maybe Ive just been in the right place at the right time.I have had some issues with the system, but it wasnt cause i didnt get the load but had to do with quality of voice over the cell phone.Response time for the customers is much better, and i know they are tweeking the system

Now that we have had a number of offers under the new dispatch system, we have some of the same issues that have been voiced here. We will provide feedback to our carrier but it will be nothing different than what they have already heard from others.

There is nothing wrong the the new dispatch system that cannot be fixed with some tweaking, and there is something very right about the system. That is, it gives our carrier the ability to cover loads faster. In the emergency freight market, this improves our agents' ability to close the deal in cases where customers might have kept making phone calls to other carriers before. I'm all for a dispatch system that will help agents put freight on our truck that might not have been put there before.
