After a weekend that most spent focused on hot dogs and beer and many spent thinking the idiots in control are "change we can believe in", it's a good time to remember those who give us the freedom we enjoy. There is sound but not for the first minute or two.

Leo, thanks. My Dad was a career soldier. He was most proud of spending his 30 years in the service in Europe, Central America, and, of course, here protecting the constitution. He died several years ago. I'm sending this to my Mom. She will smile as well as shed a tear.

This is not a goverment web site. I noticed the target pactice game just to the right of the video screen. Nice touch. Just the sort of place I would expect to see you hangin around.Slap you own bad self Pappy,this is a propoganda website using soldiers who probably never gave permission for their likeness to be used on a site like this.Shameful.

I think these patriot web site morons should produce a similar piece on the tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis who have been killed since w started his Crock and Flaw bombing. By the way,showing respect for our troops should not be a 4th of July pre occupation,they die and suffer everyday and have been screwed by the VA for ever.At least we are now able to pay respect by viewing the fallen when they return home in flag draped coffins. w considered it bad press for his wasteful war.

Nobody said it was a government website and all the photos used were donated by the owners of the photos. Nobody said we shouldn't respect and thank the troops daily. The point was we shouldn't think of this holiday weekend as the hot dogs and beer weekend like far too many people do. We should think of it as the sacrifices and history weekend and try to honor that.

We aren't yet required to view government sanctioned websites to learn what to think or how to think. I generally avoid government sites and their propagandistic content.
