Nope - strictly a political calculation: McConnell wasn't going to let the Majority entertain other business concurrently, while the Impeachment trial continued as witnesses were called. No real good reason for that and that would have thwarted the Majority moving forward on Biden's agenda...

One should never mistake mere moral cowardice, in service to pursuit of political goals or power, with integrity. Ever.

Anyone have any thoughts on who they'd like to see called as witness ? I am given to understand that defense counsel would like to call literally hundreds of witnesses ... I'm thinking that the Secret Service detail for the ex-President might be able to shed some light on communications the...

Totally inappropriate. The Senate - by a simple majority, if the rules permit - should bar these three from the Chamber for the remainder of the trial, including the votes.
