    Insurance

Oilerman; All Owner-operators should be knowledgeable of their Physical Damage insurance policy. Most insurance companies will gladly accept a premium payment for any "Stated Value" amount that the Owner-operator places on his or her vehicle. The problem arises when a vehicle is "totalled"...

how many background checks are required?

Termite; I deal with the background checks on the "inside" - within the walls of a carrier. I am often amazed what our government expects the hard-working folks of this country to go through. When will they realize that any terrorist attack is NOT going to involve "law abiding" terrorists...

    Understanding earnings

Pjjjj; No problem that you are not a recruiter, you did an excellent job of responding to the person's question. To take the answer a step further, keep in mind that limitations that you, an independent contractor (Owner-operator) place onto to the company will also limit revenue or...

How do i know if response ..

Thanks Cheri - great point and I missed that, my bad. There will also be a "tag" line below each post with the poster's screen name, and usually what they do, ie... O/O - Straight truck leased to... or Senior Recruiter, or Moderator. To my knowledge, there are only two folks that do recruiting...

How do i know if response ..

You will know if the member posting is a Moderator or not by their profile. Otherwise, ask. I don't think there are folks out there posing as recruiters. It is good to speak with drivers from the companies you are interested in also. They can give you the "other side" of the company...

It's The End Of The World

Moot; Great post! Yours always are. I hate to be ignorant but what does the "p.o.s." adjective in your first post mean (when referring to about American made H.D motorcycles)? Just need to know what that adjective stands for, so the next time one of those people that ride those things...

    occupational health ins.

rts0073; Occupational Accident Insurance is NOT Worker's Comp. It is insurance coverage that protects you in the same areas as Worker's Comp., but at a fixed cost per month rather than the general "percentage of pay" method used by many states. It is not required in DOT regulations that I...
