    Pets and Customers

In my tanker days, the company policy was no beards and no more than a days growth of beard. So it was pretty much a no pets policy. Make too many complicated demands and the easiest solution is a blanket restriction. It works both ways. Moot, I was running pretty much full time refinery...

My sprinter is not idiot proof. The back door isn't tied into the fail safe system. I'm not going to say how I found out. eb

And I think in my case it was the broker's decision too. And the reason why the shipper wasn't happy, he was trying to figure out how to avoid being a repeat victim. I guess this is why there is always room for people who can find a way to work smarter. eb

Cruise Control in a Construction Zone

Please OVM, I rarely get up to 60 mph these days, and I need my cruise (it's like family to me). eb

Cruise Control in a Construction Zone

I didn't join in on the other thread, because that wasn't my topic or my argument, but I did want to make a comment on the cruise control aspect. So thank you turtle for the opportunity. It's along the same lines as OVM mentions. In truck driving school I was taught that the cruise control...

Show and Tell us about your rig

Some of the better ones may not be in the community area, but it is a point of departure before others reply. And seeing the ones already on file may bring up other questions. That's what I like about having the resources available. eb

    Your Sprinter Sleeper

Just a couple months back I was early to the shipper. Too early for them to load me, so they made me sit. A cargo van came and got loaded. I chatted with the driver, and we figured out we were going to the same place, and I figured from what I saw that the entire order would fit in my...

    Airtabs

I installed my airtabs with magnetic sheets. It's easier to move them around while I experiment with their arrangement. I haven't seen a noticeable difference in mileage or handling, but my van has odd aerodynamics. eb

    Carrier Awards/Rewards

I prefer useful reinvestment in the company, like greg mentioned. Something as simple as a company newsletter or a functional suggestion program. Believe it or not some companies don't even have a newsletter. The military gave out cash awards for suggestions that lead to measureable...

    Your Sprinter Sleeper

If that recliner was mine to keep it probably would have been "genuine imitation", but it was a gift from my sister to my mother. I had to at least try it on for size. eb

Thanks for the thoughts. But I was spending my time deadheading to non-paying drying runs. So technically I was on loads. The office did try to set things straight, but that load to JFK just consumed my "bonus" with the bridge tolls. I got in six hours early hoping to get in line for one...

Indianapolis. 486 miles for the week so far, and Thursday is burning away. Three false starts in a row since last night. Have to get dry run pay to become a professional dry runner. At least the company says they will first out me and boost my percentage on next run. eb
