    How about a shotgun?

Any restrictions are related to firearms. It's not an issue of it being concealed. eb

    Hours of Work/Sleep Habits?

No kidding. Go out of service and everything gets messed up. As for percentages, right now I'm probably higher than 60% nights, but that changes. eb

    Hours of Work/Sleep Habits?

It's very much NOT like shift work. It's more like 24/7 weekend standby. Some people can never adapt to it. First thing I do after delivery is decide on my sleep strategy. When the loads are coming hard and fast, I'm usually getting in two sleeps a day. Basically, sleep until the next load...

    Sprinter Curb weights and Payloads?

I learned in school that reality is a social construct. In my reality 6350 lbs empty and 2200 lbs left for freight. Just met another driver who still hauls 4000 lbs loads. In his reality, oil is oil and doesn't need to be changed as long as it remains oil. Choose your reality. Keep us...

    St Louis (Fenton)Chrysler plants

I probably took the last expedite load out of that plant. It was a sump pump dug out of the building's foundation that they were cannibalizing for another plant. eb

    oil leftovers

I have to admit I was in a bit of a hurry during my last oil change. It started raining. Usually I leave the bottle inverted in the filler tube while I do something else. Then do the next bottle... eb

    oil leftovers

After a recent oil change I spent a little extra time and drained what was left in the bottles. I rung out almost eight ounces from twelve 1 quart bottles. I save $1.40 for an extra half hour of work per oil change. Or I save $16.80 annually. My dad would have been proud of me. eb

    Home time?

Another thing that helps are loads going out when you are ready to go back in service. If I'm out of service in Dallas, I can count on sitting a couple days after returning to service to get a load. So I try to avoid returning to Dallas. In the heavy freight areas you'll probably get loaded...

    apportioned registration?

I would still call the recruiter or compliance. I worked for a carrier that still wanted me to have truck plates on the van. Never know when things change. eb

Is it legal to shave a drivers miles?

I keep track of dispatched and actual miles just to see if anything turns into a trend. It generally is short against the driver. I just figure it into my minimum rate that I will run. So basically I add the shorted miles to my cpm to operate. This is the kind of behavior that keeps drivers...
