Breaking down while on a load

I get that you're not pleased that you're paying the tow bill, Jim. I get that it's like salt in your fresh wound. Our experience is that we've had one animal collision, and two breakdowns while under a load, both while we were leased to FedEx. In the cow strike, the tow bill was added to our...

Truck Speed Limiter Mandate is Progressing

.....all while getting lapped by a school bus fool of kids. Wish I was kidding. There are very few times we drive faster than 59.5 mph. The 401 is definitely one of them.

when an expedited load turns out to not really be an expedite

UAW people, in general, suck. Lazy, entitled pigs. Oh, all IMHO, of course. I avoid those loads like the plague. Once in a while, though, I need a reminder. Had one just last week. One large carrier is notorious for hurry, hurry, hurry.....and usually have no idea if the Consignee is even open.

    What happened to Eclipse Expediting?

No running for or from anything here. Only one I'm out to please is my bride. I just thought it ironic that you encourage getting rid of the .60-70 cent runners, when, just a short time ago, you were advocating running cheaper than most everyone else because it suited you personally. What's...

    What happened to Eclipse Expediting?

Then why say "hopefully " at all? You running for office?

    What happened to Eclipse Expediting?

Wait.... What's wrong with the .60-70 cent runners? I mean, if it works for them, what's the problem?

    Question on driver pay...

With that logic, the burger flippers at Mickey D's should get paid the same as the lazy union slugs at the GM plant we delivered to this morning. While I don't agree with OP'S pay plan, stating "that's not how it's done" should have included "in my business model". There's plenty of pay...

APU's best bang for the $

Well, let's start with this: What kind of APU do you have now, and why, specifically, is the tech saying that it's life is waning? Could it be someone trying to sell you a new one? We have a Proheat Gen 4, built in 2005. It has a Kubota Z482e engine, with over 18,000 hours on it. What I don't...

    Financing

Lots of naysayers here. We bought our first truck with the last $500 to our name as the down payment. It was a seller-financed $34k purchase. We paid it off in 5 months and 27 days.....by working. Sold it, bought the next through a little more conventional means. Bought another since, and, in...

    Big Truck MBE900 replacement

Most Detroit shops can take care of it. I'm also told that Midway (Freightliner/Trucks/Something?) in PA is a real good shop. Or, you can look at Diselenginetrader.com for a reman, and find an independent shop. No idea on a warranty, though. Ours, through FL, was 100k miles. Ours, completed in...
