Thanks for the link, I didn't know about the "other" Cedar Point, either. :o So much misinformation, incorrect assumptions, biased beliefs - the following assertion especially made me look further: "[wildlife facts are] taught incorrectly and with a bias that does not reflect any kind of real...

The cognitive dissonance is just staggering: railing against private enterprise [Cedar Point, golf courses] that hire people and pay taxes? And you call Obama a communist?! No deal, no way. I really couldn't care less what you eat, or where it comes from. [The Dollar Menu, if I remember...

    Obama outperforms Reagan

As the article cited points out, that belief is not without reason: Obamacare is very close to the Republican plans of the early 90's. That it's not identical is because no legislation survives without numerous changes en route - the R version wouldn't have, either. As for the opposition to...

    Obama outperforms Reagan

Behold: the mindset of the arrogant conservative who resorts to name calling when he has no credible rebuttal. You're only fooling yourself. But that's something conservatives are particularly good at, I've noticed.

Per the DNR website, "very little" is received from taxes [whatever that means], since 2000, when the checkoff option was eliminated on state tax forms. Currently, funding is from: gifts, bequests, grants, and royalties from the sale of mineral, gas, oil, etc rights. And from 'specialty' license...

    This should............

Because I don't even want to think about people without their pants on, I have to straighten out this ridiculous click bait scare tactic misconception. Sharpton clarified, [in the Update at the end of the article] with the following disclaimer: "We did not say we are in the decision making...

Now I'm confused: I did not know the sportsmen built the land, water, and wildlife - I thought it was public property, overseen by the Michigan DNR. Which is supported by taxes, no? I applaud efforts to maintain and improve it, but if those doing the work feel it should be limited to those who...

    Straight Truck or Tractor

Bubber: I've driven both, and cargo vans, too. I am currently, and permanently, driving straight truck solo. If your bottom line is to make as much money as possible, ['dam the torpedoes, we're making bank!'] then the big truck is probably better. If you're more interested in the quality of...

What makes them think they can succeed in an already overpopulated market? Delusional thinking, lol. Seriously, they probably don't know [or believe] that it is a saturated market. But even if they've heard rumors to that effect, they still have to try, because this is America: if you don't...

NFL & Media Become Big Brother

Oh, it's possible - just not advisable. ;)

Before twit Britney,Paris, and Twain there was

I believe you're a parent, so let me ask you this: did you get to choose who your kids are? What would you do if your child were 'different'? Is something you can't see and don't understand less real? It's amazing, how much we [and experts, even] don't know about the human brain, and sexuality...

Drinking beer in the sleeper berth

I'm still laughing over the presumption that a truck won't remain parked for the night at a bar, because the tractor trailer in which I drove with a trainer did just that. In Phoenix, the company's actual HQ. [Trainer was getting a new truck.] The next morning, when we returned to HQ to finish...

NFL & Media Become Big Brother

You wonder how many employers would fire somebody for being accused of domestic violence? For those employers whose employees are very public representatives of the company, and there is convincing evidence already circulating over the internet [like Rice's elevator vid], the answer is every...

NFL & Media Become Big Brother

Turtle: You can't compare the DOT's efforts to remove alcohol from driving to the NFL's efforts to remove DV from it's ranks, [as one of many things that can harm it's image and cost money when sponsors defect], because alcohol is socially acceptable, while DV is not. [I'm not even going to make...

    Obama outperforms Reagan

It wasn't the author who made the comparison, it was Bob Deitrick, CEO of Polaris Financial Partners. According to the author, Polaris' newsletter for investors has outperformed all the major investment houses the past couple years, so clearly, they have a pretty good grasp of the current...

    Obama outperforms Reagan

What kind of experience or skills can really prepare one for the job? I can't agree that running a business helps, [in fact, I think it would be counter productive] because it's not a business, and it isn't supposed to be profitable. It shouldn't be hemorrhaging money either, but any halfway...

Drinking beer in the sleeper berth

I just noticed what that actually says, lol. :D If I feel like drinking, I go home. With my luck, I'd get nabbed when I went to get something I forgot from the truck. And I remember it after I'm all settled in jammies, natch.

Drinking beer in the sleeper berth

This might be just a trucker's 'urban legend', but I've heard of drivers leaving a bar, walking to their trucks, and being busted for DUI the minute they climbed inside. They had no intention of going anywhere except to sleep, but the LEO watching the bar said their intentions didn't matter -...

    Cava

The last time he mentioned it [on facebook, not here], he was driving for Brinks, or Wells Fargo, one of those armored courier gigs. Geo seems happy with Ceva, and I've done some of their loads, too, with no reason to complain.

Drinking beer in the sleeper berth

Actually, the book sucks: it's written in hard to understand legalese jargon, and many rules are ambiguous [you interpret it one way, the law another], and it doesn't answer every question. Still, it's good to get familiar with it, because when you can find the answer, it's THE answer, period.
