    Fedex delivery

Not really. A picture shows what it shows, but what it means is subject to interpretration and denial. The FedEx video that was first mentioned in this thread, does it speak about an errant driver or about the company that has so overworked, over-scheduled and over-stressed the poor man that...

    Fedex delivery

That is a subordinate benefit. It would have been better if the video had never been posted at all. When a trucker is killed in a serious wreck, we are all reminded to drive safe, but it would have been better if the wreck never happened.

    Fedex delivery

Most drivers already care about how they do the job and no carrier I know tolerates behavior like that. Posting a video like that does nothing to change driver behavior because most already do a good job and those who don't won't care. In this case, the messenger did more harm than good.

    Fedex delivery

Picking up on the cameras are everywhere theme, when you view the FedEx video first mentioned in this thread, notice the others that are listed on the right hand side of the YouTube web page; UPS kick, FedEx launches, UPS throws, FedEx fail, etc. Why the above video went viral and the others...

    Fedex delivery

This YouTube video has gone viral. This single act done by an individual driver coming out of a big-logo FedEx van has been viewed by over one million people so far. There is no telling how many shipping decisions have been made, not against the offending driver, but against the company whose...

    Fuel Cards

Diane and I have used Comdata with FedEx Custom Critical and later T-Chek when the carrier changed cards. At Landstar we use Comdata. While we can always complain about fees and procedures, these cards all worked without major issues. Note that card rules vary with carriers. The Comdata deal...

    Turning Over In Their Seats

Be careful about how you interpret driver turnover statistics. From a single carrier's point of view, a driver who comes in and quits in the same year has a 100 percent turnover rate. But where does the driver go? Does he or she leave the business or go to another carrier? Carrier turnover...

I'm viewing the winter, 2011 edition of Landstar Network News now. Yes, what used to come out on a disk in the mail now comes out online. They announced that on the last disk that was mailed. There is a truck in the LEAM fleet that is often mistaken for ours (and ours for it). Ours is a Volvo...

    One bad@$$ expedite truck

Even if there are other available spaces, parking a cargo van where the big trucks, bobtail tractors and straight trucks typically park can turn quickly into an ugly situation. - Additional spots may be available at the moment but truck stops fill up and empty out at different times of day...

    Question on "Great Rate"

And sometimes the expediter is BS'ing himself. Some have no idea what a good or bad rate is because they have no idea what their operating costs are.

Best time of year to start expediting??

Weather-wise, it is easier to start well ahead of winter. That gives you time to learn the road and learn your truck before winter challenges rise. Still, it is not that big of a deal. You can learn the road and learn your truck in the winter too. If it makes job sense for you to start in...
