    Response to Greg's post

    >I don't see how this (luck) isn't a factor in our business. Without >it, is saying there is a specific path of absolute success >regardless of circumstance. And perhaps that is why people's feathers get ruffled when I say I do not believe in luck. They take my non-belief in luck to the next...

    Response to Greg's post

    >Luck has a lot to do with business in general, especially >with a service business – which we are in. Perhaps it does. It is very clear that some people believe it, that's for sure. But business is not only about luck. If that were the case, all we would have to do would be to declare...

    Response to Greg's post

As luck would have it (pun intended), I happened upon a Bloomberg radio interview this morning on this very topic. Interviewed was Jackson Lears, author of Something for Nothing: Luck in America. Lears identifies two cultural motifs and traces their interplay and manifestations through American...

    Is it worth it?

I can easily do >the driving, its something i love to do, just I dont know if >my spouse could deal with me gone for such a long time That's a reason to stay out of the business, and depending on the kind of marriage you have and want to have, it could be a very important reason. Now, if she...

Can we switch between team and solo?

The law may be one thing. Carrier standards are another. FedEx Safety Department people have told me 0.02 is the limit and that one beer is enough to top it. It's simple. If you are anywhere near the truck, or will be soon, don't even think about drinking alcoholic drinks.

    Covering Ground and Nighttime Driving

When Diane and I researched the expediting opportunity, we did not fully grasp just how much ground an expediting team can cover and the amount of nighttime driving that is involved. For people now considering expediting, here is how September looked for us. Note that this is in a straight...

Can we switch between team and solo?

I know a few teams at FedEx Custom Critical that have run team most of the time and solo some of the time. These are temporary situations where one team member needs or wants to be out of the truck or at home for some reason. Something like illness, an important family event that requires...

Broom, As I said, I intend you no ill will. I will apologize to you here for misunderstanding the intent of your post. Sorry I missed your point. As has been recently demonstrated by other posts on the Open Forum, humor is sometimes seen where it is not and not seen where it is.
