    Knock, Knock, Knock...

That reminds me of a story I read that IS funny, in my view, at least. It was about a truck driver that got busted in such a string operation. He was quoted saying, "I should have known she was a cop when I saw she had all her teeth." It's funny to me like some of those stupid criminal stories...

    Understanding the Load Opportunity

That's right. That's wrong. That's also wrong. If you read the post, you would see they were searching for qualified trucks, not cheap ones. When I say the money was OK, I meant good-enough all-miles pay for us to accept the load. By good-enough, I mean at or above our profit margin. There...

    Knock, Knock, Knock...

I know you are joking but I am not laughing. If she was in fact a prostitute working a truck stop, hers is a tragic story and a broken life. I grow sad when I wonder about how she got into that situation. When I worked in a prison for a few months (as a computer guy), I met some pretty...

    Understanding the Load Opportunity

I don't know why you are asking me about the need for express centers. You seem more informed about the dispatch system than me. Intentionally, I have limited my knowledge of the system to what our carrier has provided in writing and personal experience. With new developments like this, driver...

    Understanding the Load Opportunity

Not so. What I know of the new system I learned from the same written information that was shared with all contractors. While the rumor mill and personal observations kicked in after that, the best source remains the written info FedEx Custom Critical has provided. For as long as we have been...

    Understanding the Load Opportunity

Since you asked for replies from FedEx drivers, here is mine. I do not disagree with most of what you said. I encourage you to send your words by e-mail to your contractor coordinator; Subject: Feedback on New Dispatch System. Your message will be forwarded to the appropriate people. I do not...

Feeling guilty, irritated, sad and introspective all at once, I wrote the following in my daily blog. Still feeling guilty, irritated, sad and introspective, I would appreciate forum-member comments. How do you feel when the knock comes? What do you do? Blog excerpt: (being dispatched for a...

    need help!!!

You have two strikes against you. You already know about the DUI and have taken remedial action. Time is on your side on that one. The other strike is the present economic slowdown. This has boosted the supply of trained and experienced drivers to higher-than-normal levels. Time is on your...

NEWS Flash FEDEX CC Tractor Trailer spoted in Catcus Land Fill in Phoenix AZ

I'm not sure I understand the point you are trying to make with your post. If I saw a FedEx Custom Critical truck at a landfill or dump, I would presume the truck was on the debris-removal portion of a profitable run. Debris removal is a service we sometimes offer. On such a load, the items...

It's funny. I was talking with a Sprinter operator the other day and he was telling me how all the B loads were being given to C trucks because dock-high C trucks are more important in the fleet. Now, in this thread I read how C loads are going onto B trucks (Sprinters). Whatever kind of truck...

    Confounded by Big Cat Giveaways

Dispatchers are human and have their bad days. But when such a failing in professionalism occurs, I know for a fact that our carrier wants to know about it. It is a serious issue if a dispatcher is offending drivers. I don't take the issue all the way to the top (pray to God). Instead, I...

    Have you noticed?

Come to think of it, a number of truck stops have cut their full-service restaurant hours back. They are no longer open all night long, or have cut menu items way back during late-night hours. TA announced a while ago that they were cutting jobs because of reduced traffic. We can see the...

    airtabs and the expo

Photos below show a truck (Jeanie's truck) with Airtabs on the mirror and sleeper roof. This truck also has Airtabs on the tool box but they do not show up well in the photo. The tabs are painted to blend in, which they pretty-much do when you see the truck.

    Have you noticed?

We were at a Flying J for a few hours last night and saw a strange sight; about a third of the parking places were empty. I mentioned this to a flatbed driver I visited with this morning. He said he is noticing more open parking places at rest areas too. Signs of the times?
