    Denis Webber has moved

We have hauled none and I have no info about rates. The freight came out of areas we were not close to at the time. There might have been some TVAL loads pop up for us but we have had long periods out of service to concentrate on administrative tasks related to our new business. About the...

Ours was the first truck to mapped for Landstar TVAL work. Two more trucks followed shortly after that. There are more now but I have not kept track of how many. TVAL loads have been hauled and a growing number of agents have come on board and become qualified for TVAL work. Landstar is...

A questions about driving and pain medication!

This is something for people who are looking at getting into expediting from non-trucking jobs to think about. Almost everything that has been written about the pros and cons of the expediting opportunity is silent about the effect this business can have on one's health and fitness; and in most...

    Hey Phil ....

I know about the forever more part. I knew about that before I posted anything. But the more time passes, the less often they will appear in any search results. I'm not trying to obiterate anything I have ever written online. I'm only seeking to become a more neutral and less prominent online...

Pilot/J accused of rebate fraud, Millions of $

Correct. Hauling freight is a business-to-business endeavor. It's all about the money.

Pilot/J accused of rebate fraud, Millions of $

In the interests of justice, I have volunteered several years of my life pro-bono. In the interests of moving freight, there has been very little. When she was practicing law, Diane did some pro bono work.

A questions about driving and pain medication!

As Diane and I have gotten more serious about our health and fitness, we learned the phrase "exercise is medicine." While this video does not apply directly to your circumstances, check it out anyway and pay close attention to the words "exercise is medicine" when you hear them. It is...

Pilot/J accused of rebate fraud, Millions of $

So, with your interest in justice, are you seeking to represent a company or driver pro bono? If not, what do you propose exactly?

    Hey Phil ....

Dreamer, the explanation that we are moving on has been posted since I stopped blogging there. And yes, Notanewbie, it costs money to keep that web site live. I am taking the site down partly to save money but mostly because Diane and I are moving into a retail business in which well over...

    I 95 Corridor

I don't suppose there is any way to tell but I wonder how much congestion has grown because changes to the hours of service rules took away some of the scheduling flexibility truckers used to have.

    Hey Phil ....

I'll be taking down that entire web site soon. I stopped blogging months ago as we transition into a new career. There will not be the time or incilination to keep that site going.

    Dot question

Of course he can say no but I understand the reason for avoiding truck stops late in the year to avoid the requests. If I wanted to take my coffee break, I would not want to be interrupted with a seasonal surge of requests either. It's not about that ability to say no. It's about the ability to...

    CSA Crash Data

From the article: “The larger carriers with full safety staffs and supported by big trucking organizations have an advantage because they’re labor-intensive for FMCSA investigative staff,” Wilson says. “They’re time-consuming, and for the value of the amount of violations found and the...

    May location and other nonsense

Out of service, laying over in Humble, TX, where we discovered last night a wonderful barbeque restaurant: Pappa's. Great food and free ice cream cones too! Pappa's has a number of locations around the country. Now that we know them, we'll be keeping an eye open for their other stores.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

Technically, it's the carrier that books the freight, is it not? You find it, carrier books it?

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you covered the industry well. If you want to talk about expediting opportunities, you need to state who the opportunities are for. If you are talking about expediting opportunities for drivers, you get a certain list. If you are talking about opportunities for owner-operators, you get...

    May location and other nonsense

Diane and I have only run with two carriers in our 10 years as expediters. Based on that experience only, I can answer, no, that's not the way every carrier does it. However, I cannot say about how things are now at our former carrier. Maybe things have changed.
