    Help w/ VRU for FedEXCC

There always seems to be the perception that you've been dispatched around when you compare the "trucks dispatched" info on the Qualcomm, and the "loads dispatched" on the VRU. A careful comparison of these two sources and the VRU 2,9 option showing your position in the queue is always helpful...

    Hi All, Have a Question?

Many consider a five year old van to be near the end of it's working life for the purpose of entering the business, particularly with a van that has no known history of reliability. A newer expediter van is often allowed a lease extention beyond five years if the owner has displayed a good...

    Van Choice

HFR I've had two E-350's and two 3500's. I liked the Fords because because of the solid truck-like feel. My Fords were diesel so maintenance was more costly than the gasser would have been, but the improved MPG may have made up for the mantenance costs. I liked the seats for the two arm...

    When is a D is better than a C

InIdaho Keep in mind that C and D "truck" and C and D "loads" are generalized terms and their meaning differs from carrier to carrier. A C truck usually has a 14' minimum dock high cargo box and a D truck has a minimum 22' cargo box. A truck operating interstate should not exceed 40', so...

Let's add another tier to the cake of disrespect

Some of the cleanest showers available are located in the service plazas of the Ohio Turnpike, and they're free. This seem to be litttle known but they are in the rear of the truckers lounge at the rear entrance to all the new plazas. The laundry is usually pretty clean also and well equipped.

    2000 miles a week in a van

You're wrong Ark. I never used my first van in the emu business ;-} When we started with Roberts Express, we often had $2000 - $3000 weeks as a team operation, and that was in 1989 - 1995 dollars. Life was good when Roberts and Tri-State were the only nationwide Door to Door, Exclusive use...

    2000 miles a week in a van

There has been a lot written recently, by aspiring cargo van or Sprinter expediters who have visions of earning a good living by expediting in a cargo van. When folks read that vans drivers occasionally enjoy 1500-2000 mile weeks and occasionally average over a dollar a mile, plus fuel...

    security clearance

I don't know the answer to that, but i'd guess that what you'd need, for starters, is a proven track record as reliable carrier, serious insurance coverage and the ability to put together a bid package that would meet very strict conditions. You'd also need a lot of patience while waiting to...
