Monster Winter Storm to Hit Northeast Mon. and Tue.

The rattlesnakes in the "Glades" got pretty aggressive when pushed by fire. We had to be on constant watch out. During normal times, they are not too bad.

It's too hot in Florida in the winter. In the summer it's beyond hot. Sand melts.

Monster Winter Storm to Hit Northeast Mon. and Tue.

Everything in Australia is poisonous, even the dirt! :p kinda like Florida for that matter! LOL!! Biggest timber rattler I have saw/killed, was in Florida, down in the Everglades when I was fighting fires down there. The snake was stretched across a two track. The tail extended outside of the...

Monster Winter Storm to Hit Northeast Mon. and Tue.

Yep, fun times. I am heading up north this weekend. Going to scout for next deer season and do a little snowshoe rabbit hunting. The high Sunday will be 14, low that night, -7. Perfect.

Monster Winter Storm to Hit Northeast Mon. and Tue.

When it snows around here people buy fuel for their snowmobiles. When it gets cold, they sharpen the blades on their ice augers.

Monster Winter Storm to Hit Northeast Mon. and Tue.

Winter storms are easy to avoid. Most of the time there is plenty of warning that they are coming. Preparation is kind of simple. I am more bothered by the idea of tornadoes, when there is little warning and even more so when they hit at night. Far more are killed in storms in warm weather...

Monster Winter Storm to Hit Northeast Mon. and Tue.

I will never forget, when we lived in SC, how when there was a prediction of snow, even just a trace, there was a run on the stores, shelves were emptied of bread and milk. Why bread and milk? I have no idea. We used to just laugh for hours at the spectacle.

Yeah, the names are the problem! LOL!! It could NEVER have ANYTHING to do with the flimflam politicians and their lap dogs in the "news business". What a crock. There are MILLIONS in those cities, give 'em shovels and make them get off their butts and learn to deal with life for a...

Monster Winter Storm to Hit Northeast Mon. and Tue.

It's going to be a rough one, at least, that is what the "news DOOODS" are hyping. It's already a "historic" storm, that has not even hit yet. It's winter, this happens. It has for years, and likely will for years to come. One would think that they would be prepared for winter by now, being...

    Health off the road

We are now looking at a "cardio" machine for the house, to extend exercise time when the weather is not good and there is no hunting season to keep me moving. We are also looking at a bird dog, a wire haired Griffon. Providing the for the needs of a breed that needs constant exercise will help...

    Health off the road

So does the long hours stuck in seats, bad air and lack of meaningful exercise. Being able to spend hour upon hour, outside, in the fresh air, walking, moving whenever the mood suits, does wonders, not only for the body, but the spirit as well. Being the the company of family, and friends...

    Stairway To Heaven?

Kidding? No way! Muskrat is a tradition around here. The cooks were working on them all day yesterday. Turtle soup is another "staple" for "Riverrats" as well. The "rats", for this dinner, were first boiled then will be fried today. They have been working on the soup for several days. All of...

You got that right, all there is here is talk about "trucking" and "work" EWWWWWW! Was not sleeping either, spent most of the day working on preparing for a "muskrat and turtle soup" dinner tomorrow, to benefit the Pointe Mouillee Waterfowlers Association's fund raiser. Let's see how this...

    $3000 per week

I would be totally bored, after the first five minutes. I prefer to cook my own meals, live where I please and provide my own entertainment. I have never, and can never see, going on a cruise, let alone live on a cage, albeit a guilded cage. A life without challenge is no life at all.

I would like to hunt out there some day. I have the "proper toys" for a "shotgun" area. We have a "limited" zone here. You can use shotguns/muzzle loaders or center fire rifles that are .35, or larger, with a straight walled case and maximum case length of 1.8".

I don't hunt in the "limited" zone. I hunt "up north", I use a Remington Custom 700, 30.06, with a Zeiss Conquest, 3X9X40MM scope.
