    FedEx Fail...(video link)

Here's how the conversation went... Terminal Manager: "Cletus, this box needs to go on your truck" Cletus: "...but boss, I ain't got no more room for this big box." Terminal Manager: "I don't care if you have to push it, it's gotta go with you!!!" Cletus: [whistling as he walks away]...

    Coming back....

Fleet owner... in a cargo van? You must be kidding. Most fleet owners want to split 60/40. Next time your sitting around waiting for a load, figure out how much money a driver, in a cargo van make running for a fleet owner. When I was running with Panther several years ago, I took 20 random...

    Coming back....

My other option is to run for myself. Pay the money and get my own authority, insurance, etc... Work some local businesses that I know have used expedite companies in the past. Maybe just keep it "regional". I have some contacts at several area suppliers for a few auto manufacturers. Might...

    Coming back....

I may look into some of the smaller carriers, just to see if they will allow my van on. It would really be nice to be able to run in it for a year so I can save up the money to get something a little larger (I have the CargoMax in mind). This is where it's going to get difficult... Find a...

    Ford or GMC HCV van

Thanks to chefdennis! I really like the CargoMax. This is the vehicle every vanner should want. Found a video on YouTube that shows a little about how its put together. I'll post the link latter today. Having 14ft of floor space and the inside height of a Sprinter is very appealing to me...

    Ford or GMC HCV van

I know I've seen a couple of post by O/O running the Ford/Chevy/GMC HCV van (the search in the forums had zero results). If you run one, I'd like to know how well the conversion was done, and if your carrier gives you Sprinter rates. A dealer local to me has one that I'm going to look at...

    Coming back....

I'm searching for a vehicle. I will most likely go with a Sprinter, but I'm interested in looking at the HCV. As far as a carrier, I'm going to look into Landstar, but I'm going to also look at getting info from Load 1 and a couple of others. The things I've read about Load 1 are very...

New Plant in Mexico NOT closing any US or Can. Plants just an expansion.

Not to worry too much, Honda is somewhat picky about the transportation of their parts. Currently, I deal with that on a daily basis.

I like your attitude Turtle! Knowing how to play the game IS what it's all about. When I ran with Panther before, I was getting .77/mile, but the FSC varied from .06/mile to as high as .30/mile. Like I've always said, "...expediting ain't rocket science!"

    Coming back....

Like I said, l'd like to sign on someplace where I could use this van, but if it going to keep me from getting in with one of the big carriers, I'll look for something a little newer. I ran with Panther in the past and was getting .77/mile + DSC, so if the rate is a little higher + DSC, sounds...

    Coming back....

Thanks for the reply Camper. I have a 2001 Chevy 3500 extended cargo van, that's completely paid for, and if possible, I'd like to find a carrier that wil allow me to sign-on with a vehicle of that age. If I can get another year out of it, I should be able to save up enough money to look at...

    Coming back....

I've been out of the driving side of the expediting business for the last 4 years, and I'm getting ready to get back in the drivers seat. I have a few questions I need to get answered before making the move. 1) What is the oldest model year allowed by the carriers? 2) Is going to Canada...

    cargoMAXX

Saw the announcement in the Expo advertisement. I was just attempting to get a little info ahead of time. I was in expediting some time back, (had a cargo van on with Panther), and I'm looking at getting back into the business. I plan on attending the expo to talk with some of the carriers and...

    cargoMAXX

Has anyone seen one of these? Who manufactures it? Is it available on a Chevy/GMC and/or Ford chassis? I saw some on a car lot in Georgia yesterday while I was heading north on 95. Just curious.

    Keeping track...

How do you keep track of your loads, miles driven, expenses and what you should be paid vs what you were paid. Do you us spreadsheets, software you purchased, Ouickbooks or something else. I'm looking at creating a simple database that will keep track of everything for a single O/O.As a...
