YOU deserve the right to contract with a Carrier that Place SAFETY as it's # one top priority.

YOU deserve the right to work with a carrier that communicate with it's costumers, explaining to them YOUR cost of doing and STAYING in business.

if you work on a %tage base contract YOU deserve the right to get a fair share of the ALL amount's paid to move the freight.

YOU deserve the right to get a full pass on of ALL pre-negotiated fuel discounts.

YOU deserve the right to work with a Carrier that offer BBQ lunch every Fri. at it's terminals.

Leaves a couple things out, though. Carriers owe us our settlement, including all accessorials, independent of their ability or willingness to collect from their customer. The two are wholly unrelated.
Carriers owe us settlement for all miles traveled per the method specified in the agreement. If we're to be paid practical miles, then all of those. If the carrier wishes to offer a customer a discount, either by rate or miles, that discount comes out of THEIR take and has no effect on ours.

Id add after listening to the FMCSA Administrator on Road dog today that each Motor Carrier should Stand Up to some of the senseless and baseless claims being made against us, the truckers, drivers and our Professions. They hire me to do professional work,
I have to pass tests, Physicals, Pass driving exams, and then keep my record clean by driving professionally, so stand up and say these laws, mandates and ridiculous ideas that these Non Drivers come up with, should be discussed with a Panel of REAL drivers...

Today several drivers called in and asked WHAT IS YOUR REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE.....Lady Administrator, NONE, Gentleman with Enforcement, he had driven a straight truck.....but are they really experienced in whats going on in truck stops, Shippers lots, and recievers....Thanks to Evan Lockridge for the chance to question these folks....my 2 cents.

Im lucky Ive had good companys Ive worked for, JD and other companies Ive been with never treated me wrong, and I made a decent living, But Carriers need to say OUR DRIVERS are Safe, and Educated, as well as Professional REAL DRIVERS not Academic Administrators with no road dog behind them !!!

We owe the carrier what is specified in the contract. The carrier is our customer just like if you hire a contractor to build you a house, he works for and answers to you. We work for and answer to the carrier. As long as both parties live up to the contract, nothing else matters. I also think we should not bad mouth our carrier while we are taking their money. If you are unhappy with your carrier, move. When the carrier calls with an offer, we can accept it or decline. Once we accept, we have agreed to the money they offered. At that point we have no right to complain about the money cuz we accepted it. FedEx has been okay with us. They have some things I don't love, but overall, they have lived up to the contract we have. If it gets to the point that I don't believe they have lived up to our agreement, we will move. It does not matter how much the carrier is getting paid, all that matters is if we are willing to run for what they offer. It is our responsibility to manage our business, we are not here to manage the carriers business. I hope they all make a good profit, so we can all stay employed. Anyone that thinks they can do better than the carrier they are with, get your own authority and go for it. We always have the right to change. ( sorry for being so long winded)

As they owe us, Landstar has always been above board in upholding the contract we have together.

I thought about this and got to say they owe me what respect I earned.

I shed the employee mentality long ago and it seems to have helped to find my way to what others think may not be success - running as I want with how I want to run. I no longer have to worry about the ideas that permeate this market, like micromanagement or being treated as a child - one example is when I say no, it isn't followed with a threat or punishment of being ignored for another load.

Amazing what respect has in store for those who haven't experienced it.
