You're not welcome at the Tampa J

If you drive a van and don't want to park back with the big trucks, that is. Yesterday morning an employee banged on my door at 7:00 am and woke me up to tell me they didn't allow long term parking in the lot. I ignored him and was there last night as well. This morning I walked in there to take my shower and the manager confronted me and asked me if I was the driver of the "big white van" in the lot. I said I was and he once again told me that I couldn't stay in the lot. I asked why and he said that they don't want people hanging out and taking up parking spots for the restaurant. I asked him if he was going to kick out the RVs that were parked out in the same lot and he gave me an odd look and said no. So I proceeded to tell him how in most cities van drivers usually seek out the J because of their shower policy and we tend to spend money there, but he had seen the last dime from me. I didn't even take my shower in there. Apparently any money I spent in there wasn't good enough for them to let me have one parking spot under a shade tree, but if this van looked like an RV I would have been left alone. I'm never spending another penny at the J in Tampa again.

Flying j's system of points counting for all purchases makes it a very nice tool when logging a complant you give them your card number in th email to look up how much your spending and it gives you a little more clout.

you deffinatally need to take this up with there home office, hello that is why they are in bussiness for, to service the logistics industry

Considering the location...I'd have to imagine RV'ers are the master customer and expediters second...and given we stay longer on average then rv'ers...

IF i were manager of a J....I would need to see at least a $15.00 food and restaurant purchase from an rv'er or it is off the the rv park for ya....income stream....:D

oh and alway make a piont at the end as to how silly it is to clean the rest rooms at 0830 when that is the exact time everybody has to pee

That must be a new policy there. I wonder if they changed managers I have never had a problem at that j. There were a few homeless type last time I was there so maybe they are trying to crack down on that and we are getting caught up in it. I can't picture the restaurant being busy enough to have people parking out there by the trees.

At least there is a TA across the street but I don't think it has the shade tree's the J has. I agree take it up the ladder.

With their food as bad as it is, I can't see the restaurant filling the parking lot at all. This coming from someone who actually used to like their laxative on a plate.

Once upon a time......I was sitting at home and a panther dispatcher calls me on the phone. She says I'm not calling u with a load offer, but I have a driver who got kicked out of the Tampa j by the police, can I give him ur phone # so he can ask u if there is somewhere he can go and park? I didn't mind, so he calls and I direct him to the J in San antonio, florida. Bout the best one even tho the front can sometimes get crowded. Then there is also the TA in Wildwood, Fl which is about 16 mi from my apartment. I think he went up to Jacksonville after all that.

Odd, I had the exact opposite happen to me this morning in Montreal. I was out back in the truck lot. There is a small gravel lane that runs 50 feet from the lot to the base of the sign. I parked there in an effort to gain more internet signal (it worked). So, I'm not taking any truck spots, I'm on gravel and outta the way. 6:30 this morning, bang bang bang on the side of the van, move it to the front lot. When I asked why, suddenly she only spoke french. So I asked her in french why I had to move? She just glared at me and yelled "Move". Sometimes I really wonder why I take runs up here? This J sucks and I usually leave here empty after sitting for days.

We no longer use the "J" in Tampa, we go out to the one in San Antonio. The Tampa area has not been freindly to us. :(

Everyone with a "J" card and even if you don't but spend money with them, needs to be on the phone to customer service over this....it has to be a managers deal, we all know its not compnay wide.......

I know this to be true because I was also there and was told to leave, I asked if he was going to go out back and tell the big trucks they had to leave and he told me they spend time on the road and need a place to stay between loads and I tried to tell him we did the same thing and he said they need the space for the campers.

Are you the van I gave the jump start to by any chance?

Yes I am was not sure if you where the same person, or if someone had come in later.

I stuck around the rest of the day after you left, but I ended up at the TA across the street. They didn't mind me being in the lot and they have a Redbox there as well. I'm up in Georgia now.

Sounds like they value the business of the campers and RV'ers more than the expeditors. Funny, because the expeditors would be the ones that keep coming back over and over. I would complain to corporate about that manager
