hey good news....the downtown interchange rtamps are done after 3 years. yeah i know, thaey have been done for a few months. but that is the good news. ruh ro raggy.

wisc is starting prep work for the big job over the next 10 years, yes 10 years. from the wisc/il border to the milwaukee area. the road will be taken down to base and widened to 4 lanes, the bridges and overpasses will be taken down and rebuilt, access rammps in kenosha and racine counties will be closed for rebuilding and it will all be done before the end of the next decade. :D

just about the time 294 will be done the next leg of the road will start being torn up. is this prosperity or what?

o yeah, gas went up 10 cents overnite. reg unl is now 16 cents more expensive than diesel. whodathunkitpossible?

wouldn't that be nice? no not in the near budget. just ride in the left lane from beloit to milwaukee its smoother.

that patch reminds me of a postcard i had um, koff koff 20 years ago koff koff. it was a picture of 2 black and white(guernsey?) cows on the front. on the back it read .....come smell our dairy air.

I-94 construction to start after Memorial Day

RACINE COUNTY — Interstate construction will begin in Racine County right after Memorial Day, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Work will be done in the area of Highway G as part of the first phase of the seven year project to reconstruct Interstate 94 from the Illinois state line north to the Mitchell Interchange in Milwaukee.

According to the DOT, the Highway G interchange, frontage roads and the interstate at Highway G will undergo reconstruction into next year. Plans this year include closing Highway G at the interstate from June to December, closing the northbound entrance and exit ramps from June to September, southbound entrance and exit ramps from August to December, the east frontage road from June to July and the west frontage road from August to September.

Work on the interstate will include reconstruction in the southbound lanes from August to December and reconstruction of the northbound lanes from April to September of 2010.

During work on the interstate, there will be two lanes of traffic open in each direction, said Emlynn Grisar, DOT spokeswoman.

The Racine County Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin State Patrol will be conducting interstate patrol seven days a week during the construction period.

Sheriff’s Lt. Tom Sweet said they want the freeway to be safe for construction workers and those traveling I-94. He encourages all drivers to pay extra attention in work zones to the posted speed limit and other traffic signs.

Sweet said they will not be lenient with drivers who speed or break other traffic laws. He said citations for traffic violations are doubled in construction zones.

Grisar said they urge all interstate travelers to plan ahead, expect delays and stay alert while driving in work zones.

Several areas of the interstate between Milwaukee and the state line have already begun. The $1.9 billion project will expand I-94 to four lanes in each direction and include the redesign of 17 interchanges in Kenosha, Racine and Milwaukee.

The project began in March and is expected to be completed in 2016.

For more information on closures due to the construction project, updates and planned construction, call the project hotline at (262) 548-8721.

well it has started today...... from ill/wisc border 94 is 2 lanes up to hwy 50 today. southbound closed and everyone in the northbound lanes. possibly even further north in the near future. came thru 294 south today and the northbound was a 2 lane parking lot for 10 miles from lake cook road north. use 94/41 to get around the 294 mess but be aware of re-surfacing of 94 north of 80 northbound. they are making it hard to get in or out of town.

falli, i was in 'lanta 2 weeks ago and 75 is getting nice and smooth. not as smooth as an androids bottom(notice trek next gen reference) but pretty close. still more work to do and being done.
