i am leavung dallas and heading to the cold 29* right now and snow of pinedale wy..... i had to stop and get a tank of propane for the big buddy.....

I cooked and stocked the van frig before i left home on weds....chicken noodle soup, beef barley, and bean soup.....but no chili!! my bad !!

Strangely enough, we've got an old coal/wood furnace in the basement that still functions well...right next to the propane furnace that will be on all winter...*l*

Man Chef...that beef barley sounds pretty good too!

The mere mention of coal makes me nostalgic for winters past. *L* I carried buckets of coal into the house until I was 25 years old. Speaking of King Coal, I saw an old Ford pickup truck struggling mightily uphill last week with a heavy burden of coal . It was the shiny anthracite coal common in PA. We have the good stuff, bituminous low-sulfur coal in Eastern KY. The mines where my brother works sends every ton to Tampa Electric so Floridians can power their homes and gadgets. Oil gets all the publicity but coal is America's ace in the hole.

BTW, no snow in the air here... just butterflies.
