CARL'S CORNER, Texas -- TravelCenters of America LLC (TA) has purchased Willie's Place at Carl's Corner for $6.4 million. The truckstop was sold at the Hill County (N.J.) Courthouse as a result of foreclosure proceedings by SBL Capital Funding LLC, reported The Hillsboro Reporter.

Tom Liutkus, spokesperson for TA, told CSP Daily News that TA "will reopen [the Carl's Corner, Texas, location] the latter half of April as a Petro Stopping Center location. We will sell both gasoline and diesel fuel. At this time, we are interviewing former employees and new candidates for our future operations. There are various teams at work putting together the plans for each part of our business."

Wonder if they will keep "Whiskey River" and the Seperate Resturant open....I was in there the last saturday night that they operated Whiskey River and was handing it over to the banks managemnet company...what night....:D

I guess old Willy is on the road again, cant wait to get on the road again.I like Willy and his music. Sorry to see his truck stop go. I dont he had it more than 2 years .

He's filming a Christmas movie right now. I thank he starts touring soon, starting in OK.

willies place in name only. carl owned the land and the operation. wille was the name behind the biodiesel selling. btw carl drove a 5.4 pick up. so much for using the product you promote.

Well, he used some of that money to pay me!

I delivered the final tank into the bio plant from Cheney, Washington.

Was 12' round, made an interesting load on my 36" high drop deck.

15' feet high .... I had no issues until I got to Texas .... didnt know they had so many FM roads! They routed me all over north Texas to get there!

Got to see Willies place it was pretty cool but gotta be honest we always go to the place before it called (Up in Smoke) it is very good Bar-B-que try it you will like it; will have to see if we can still get some cool drinking glasses with Willie on them so will have to make a trip to Willies Petro!!! Ha!! Thanks for info

They are NOT re-opening the "Whiskey River Saloon" in the back..it will re-open soon in Malone TX about 10-12 miles from Carls Corner....oh one of the guys that was "clearing out the place last week when I stopped" said that he heard (lol rumors abound) they are also opening the Old resturant there with the Old menu..and the Salmon...mmmm

It may not of gone out of business if it wasn't so **** expensive.
Everything it the store was way over priced.
