I dunno. Seems to be an awful lot of stereotypical talking points in there, almost like they were written by a Democrat strategist. He lost me at record home ownership.

She lost me at the third sentence: But, after he broke his promise not to raise taxes and the country was in the midst of a recession, I reconsidered my position in 1992.

She was upset that Bush senior raised taxes, but NOW it's ok.

That's odd ... I was left with the impression that she upset was over Bush Senior breaking his word ... and doing something he said he wasn't going to do ...

Is there another, different article you're reading ?

Yeah, that must be it. The president breaking his word causes a party shift. Good thing Clinton and Obama are such saints and never do that.

She was upset and changed parties over the fact that Bush broke his word and the country was in a short (less than a year) economic downturn and during his presidency the Democrats controlled both the Senate and House.

According to PolitiFact, Obama kept 37% of his first term campaign promises and the country is/was in a depression but no change of party for Ms. Gerry.

As for not keeping campaign promises:

There once was a senator from Minnesota
who pledged only a two term quota
on his promise he reneged
flew a plane to his next gig
and now he is living with Jehovah

The whole article appeared contrived to me with the usual left talking points. She left the republican party at the ripe old age of her early 20's because Bush senior went back on his word?(He gave the Dems the tax increase they wanted. You would think she would be happy with the increase of money to the federal government to pay for all the programs she seems to like)
She then proceeded to support a serial liar for the next eight years. Seems like some selective outrage to me.:D
