Why do you fill the need to lock a post

Sometimes I wonder about this site. This is a great site , But sometimes I see you folks lock a post that really didn't need to be locked. I thought this site is here to help people and to let other people say how they feel as long as it's not bad.

I can understand what Leo was saying in his one post. He was saying that because some people don't know what somethings mean on a computter. And he was trying to explain it to those who didn't know.

When I 1st started driving over the road almost 11 yrs ago, I got a CB after 3 months of driving and I asked a driver for locals. He helped me get into the place I wanted. And me not knowing CB talk, I said "Thanks Good Buddie". He got mad at me and I ask him what did I Do wrong. I told him that I was a new driver and that I never talked on a CB before. The Driver Said Oh I understand now, And then he explain to me what I did Wrong.

I think Leo was just trying to tell some people who didn't know what things mean on a computter, Thats all. And yes, there are some kids that do come on here to see what we talk about. Have you Ever heard of "Trucker Buddie".

But still there is no reason to lock a post so others can't respond to it. Thats why we come here to this site. And i'm sure that is why FedEx, LEA, Tri-State and all the others that pay Expediters online to put there Adds on here. So lets be fare. Just because you may not like what we say, there is still no reason to lock out a post. I thought this was The USA not Cuba.

That is my two cents and now I will shut up.

Dave... I just dont see the problem here. These moderators dont get paid the big bucks, they just try to do what has been requested of them,as they see fit.

Sure we dont agree with every thing they do but even Suprene court justices dont please everybody all the time.

Dave please send your $5.00 to the Red Cross.

David brings up a very good point. Can we here from those who lock threads and why? We do know why LM locks a thread because he takes the time to explain it, not just say the thread is being locked.

I know some threads must be locked because of the fighting, but it looks like if a post gets up in the 20s excluding very few, the thread gets locked.

Very few threads get locked or removed. Usually all of the moderators are in agreement to shut down a topic. As too why, certain members have been known to deliberately flame a topic or other members in order to create controvesy. They brag about past exploits and then someone challenges them and off we go.

Also, sometimes a thread can get so off track from the orginal post that it makes sense to lock it and move on.

Hi LM!

As always it is a pleasure and a privilege to post on this site. I never did wonder very far from the nest. I've been laying back in the cut (so to speak) and lerking, reading and learning (one can never know everything) from other members. I,m now officially off the road running the roast sitting in the big chair. If things continue going as they are now, you will be seeing more posts from me. Unless that is you don't want them! HaHaHa!!!

David,

I locked the thread about etiquette, as Lawrence suggested, because it was turning into an arguement, which was not the original intent. As I stated in the last post in the thread, before I locked it, I figured all sides had been heard, and there was no further reason to leave it open to arguement. It apparently was not clear to some that Leo was just trying to help, not accuse.

I have been trying to let discussions run their course more lately, give people the benefit of the doubt.. but sometimes, I see the light, and don't feel the need to wait for the train! :)

Teacel,

Nice to see you posting again!
