Even many of the "geemie goobers" are now starting to learn that the 'free life' does not exist and Detroit continues to empty. Soon there will be NO intelligent life there. There is ONLY one fix and that is to close it down, bulldoze it, and start over. It is beyond fixing. All you lefties out thee take a good, long, hard look at Detroit. Detroit is EXACTLY what the rest of the nation will look like if things continue as they are. The state that Detroit is in now is 100% a result of leftist policy. Hope all you Obama bums and gemmie goobers like it! By the way, this mess happened FAST, within my life time. It does not take long to destroy a city with leftist policy and just a short while longer for it to destroy a Nation.

Well......it's not up to Congress to "FIX" Detroit......

It's DETROIT that needs to FIX Detroit.

Detroit is victim of its own enviroment......Detroit, as well as Michigan VOTERS is what made Detroit what it is today. Michigan has been strictly Liberal/Democratic for the last 4-5 Decades, and Detroit is a prime example of how the Liberal Entitlement Mentality/Ideology works out in the Long Run.........People get in a rut where they get used to really doing NOTHING to better themselves, or to better their Community, cause the Government, both Local and Federal, as well as their Unions, are doing everything in their Power to make sure everything gets done for them. Sooner or Later, the funds that were allowing these people to do NOTHING runs dry..........and Waa-La....here we have the end results/effects of strong Democratic Liberalism.

And....Sad things is......America is heading in the same direction as Detroit. The Pace will step up quicker if Obawa happens to get re-elected this coming November..........

Did anyone listened to that lady speak when the US Army was allowed to do door to door exercises in Iowa, she heard some miliatary or Fema type folks talking about something that is going to happen in October 2012. Of course I cannot confirm what she said, but you know, strange things can happen in panic situations.

Detroit is depopulating, sending its inhabitants into the suburbs. Needless to say, the attitude of the Detroit natives is spilling out into the burbs, and effectively devolving the area, IMO. I can see it in the way people drive, just from last year. Very careless... changing lanes before they're even past the vehicle they're passing. I see it in the restaurants... carelessly fumbling rolls all over the counter and floor, as they put 10 on their own plate. I officially dislike buffets in our area.

Detroit hasn't had much pride for a long time. And now that they've opened the asylum doors, that lack of pride is spreading like wildfire.

Yep, I have watched once nice neighborhoods just go down the tubes in a few short years. Even parts of the town I was raised in, Riverview, are starting to show signs of the decay in the area. As more government money comes in, the decline moves faster, taxes are going up and driving out business. A very bad cycle.

One other thing... this isn't for Congress to fix. They already did the damage to Detroit by making it a welfare experiment. This city used to be great. Now it's a soulless pit of despair, thanks to having its inhabitants treated like children; not to mention said citizens embracing that treatment.

It IS the welfare system, as we have it today, that is the cause of the decay. They wanted to create a welfare, dependent class, and they have. Detroit is the result of the work.

Better be VERY well armed if you move into Detroit. Detroit, at this point in time anyway, is NO place for human beings.

A few years back, Chattanooga started to repair old buildings and run down places that were built in the 30 and 40s. What was once something that looked like Detroit in places, is now a thriving business district of shops, apartments, and so on, a complete turn around from a place where angels feared to tread.amen. The white folk is all over it now, big bucks.

In general, this is what you get when you put democrats in office. Detroit is a perfect example of another city going bancrupt. Look at all the other cities that have already went bancrupt or are on the verge. And there is quite a few of them. Poor mismanagement, too many promises to unions, poor investments all add up to a bad situation. Certainly can't blame the one percent. They are paying for what they are getting now.
The bad news is there just isn't enough one percenters to foot the whole bill of the goofy stuff the democrats made commitments to.
As Obama wants to raise taxes, guess who will be getting less? Some people better start waking up.
