Has anyone checked out the price of ammo lately? It has doubled in the last year!

Yep, I said a long time ago that ammo was a MUCH better investment than gold. Not only is it going up in value, it will be USEFUL if the manure ever hits the spinning blades.

Speaking of ammo, I just learned that a back order I placed for ammo 3 months ago shipped two days ago! Now I have a LOT of ammo and STILL no rifle to shoot it with.

I had to go to a Walmart today to pick up a couple of things. I went by the ammo section just to check it out. In 56 linear feet of shelf space there were about two dozen boxes of rifle ammo and four or maybe five dozen boxes of shotshells. If the cabinet had been fully stocked there would be maybe 125 dozen boxes not six or so dozen.

I think I'll stick with my Ruger 10/22 for plinking and small game. My 308 for deer and elk, and my 338 for those long shots that still need knock down power. My Winchester 1300 SS 12 gage loaded with 00 buck shot for stupid people that come in my house uninvited.

I use a J.C. Higgins Model 20 12GA at the house. Barrel cut down to 18 1/2". I use Remington HD Hultimate Home Defense rounds, in size 2X4. Low velocity to cut down to, almost nothing, the chance of the shot penetrating the walls and maybe injuring someone outside that is not involved. Not that it is likely where I live. Out in the country, no kids live near etc etc.

Not into hunting rifles, but have a nice collection of military ones, with several mfg during war years.

I will keep my 00 buckshot loaded with a full tube. Some uninvited guest may have four legs and weight up to 500 lbs. I've seen two cars destroyed and a door will not stop them.

LOL!! We don't have that problem around here. Coyotes are the biggest non-human animal problem. We could run into bears where I used to live in PA. The black bear there are HUGH for black bear. They normally take a dozen or so a year over 600lbs and I THINK it was 3 over 700lbs last year.
