Which oil do you use?

I would like to know what would be the best (synthetic) oil to use in my 2008 Chevy Express one-ton 6.0L gas with 3.93 gear ratio that has turned 11,000 miles.

Something off the shelf at Walmart (Valvoline, Castrol, etc.), AMS, Lucas, . . .?

Brand loyalty will weigh heavy in the recommendations from a lot of people. I don't know, but the manual should give you a suggestion of approved or acceptable oils. I use Mobile 1 for a lot of reasons, being that it was the initial fill in the Sprinter, and the Service Manual mentions it specifically by name, Chrysler Mopar oil bottle contain Mobile 1, and it's got a nice track record of protection and extended oil change intervals.

My only recommendation really is to find a good one, and stick with it. Every time you change brands or weights, the engine will wear just a little differently. Stick to the same oil forever, and the engine wear is consistent, and is reduced over time.

I'll second the Mobil 1 recommendation
Last place I worked used Mobil 1 in all their gassers and most vehicles would hit 300K, engines still ran good, but they usually got rid of them due to transmission failure and rust, we are in Indiana LOL
BTW they changed oil every 10K
I run Mobil 1 in my Scion and go 6000 between oil changes

I drive a 2000 Ford Cargo Van. I use Mobile 1 synthetic. It supposedly allows 15,000 miles between oil changes. I think 15,000 might be pushing it on the oil changes, but that's what it says. I figure 8-10,000 works.
